Me and my husband have the hardest time trying to figure out what to get my in laws for Christmas every year. Last Christmas we got them tickets to La Nouba and they loved it. But there is not a lot of other shows they would want to go to. They have certain restaurants they like to go to. They are not into anything thats to loud. And of course we are trying to stay in a budget of $100 or under.

What can I do next?

Stars on Ice is coming to Orlando on 2/28/09. The tickets start at $24/each. Get that and a gift cert. to a downtown restaurant...and you'll be all set. Don't stress over it...be blessed that you have in-laws to buy gifts for and be thankful you can afford to get them gifts...remember, too...many times, the best gift in life, is time.
God bless you all & have FUN this Holiday season.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law got my in-laws a fancy gourmet food gift basket one year and it was such a big hit that they get one for them every year. My mother-in-law loves the basket and they both enjoy the food and they lay some out for family and friends who stop by during the holidays to enjoy with them.

We got my in-laws tickets one year to the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues, but I don't know if they'd consider that too loud

Try calling UCF theatre or the Orlando Ballet and see how much tickets are to their shows

Have your in-laws ever been to Le Coq au Vin restaurant? It is our favorite since we've moved here (in 1991). It's casual-country French food on Orange Avenue (in between downtown and Sand Lake Road). When you are in there, you feel almost like you are going over to an aunt's house who set out extra tables for a get together. It's nice and quiet, and you can dress up, if you'd like, or come classy-casual (not our Orlando daily casual). I have been there around 20 times, and every single experience is wonderful...and everything I have ever ordered (or sampled from someone's plate...LOL) is wonderful! Louis and Magdalena Perrotte are the owners (he the chef, she will greet you and come around to make sure everything's okay) and they are so warm and welcoming. Their staff is wonderful at knowing what kind of wines to recommend or food suggestions. Remember...if you are ordering an appetizer souffle (I LOVE the gruyere souffle!!!), order it right when you are seated as the souffles take a while. If you want a dessert souffle, be sure to give them plenty of notice for the same reason (the chocolate, Grand Marnier, and Rapberry are all to die for...and the nice thing about souffles are that they are nice and light!) My all-time favorite entree (and have recommended to so very many people who always thank me for the recommmendation and it is now their favorite) is the thin slices of eggplant that is lightly fried and topped with large prawns and lump crab meat and a zesty Cajun hollandaise sauce and served with little potatoes with creme fraische and caviar and carrots (which are amazing...how do they do that to a simple carrot?!) and green beans (which I never have cared for, but everyone else says they are wonderful and eat mine...LOL)! I am so hungry for that eggplant right now!

Just wanted to throw this out there (especially since the Perrotte's are planning on retiring soon...which is such a shame to lose this award-winning Orlando classic!)

We are always on a budget for Xmas, so we started making a calendar for my in laws and my mom, with pics of our son they love it and use it in their kitchen, (office max has the best price) also when you make it online you can customize the dates. Also I don't know if they like going to the movies, but when I can't spend a lot I always buy gift cards for the movie theatre, who doesn't like a free movie, hope this helped good luck! Have a Happy Christmas!!

My parents are not ones that need a whole lot. They are very happy with life & just aren't in need of much. But each year my sister & I do their stockings. We put snacks in them & little things we see that we think are neat that will fit in the stocking. Then we get them a few gift certificates too. We buy each one the same gift certificate & of course everything needs to be wrapped individually, including the cards, to make it fun for them too! We always include a gift card to Starbucks, coffee together & then one to their favorite restaurant that is located next to the movie theatre & then of course movie theatre tickets. This way they can go have dinner together & a movie & it won't cost them anything. I don't know if that helps, but we sure have fun with it & they love it too!

I realize this isn't for everyone, but my family is way into Heifer International. (http://www.Heifer.org) My aunt sent us the "share of an ark" for Christmas one year, and my mother was hooked!

There's also a wonderful website called ChangingThePresent.org where the charities are listed by category or price range. There's something for everyone-- from animals to women's rights.

(I'm really not the preachy type, but I was browsing on their websites earlier, and was inspired to share.)

I'm sure they'll love anything you give them. If *we* can tell how much you love them, they certainly know. :)
