Ok I am not looking for any rude comments just advice on what worked for you going the natural route. We are trying for baby #2 and are having a real rough go at it. Just found out our insurance does not cover any type of infertility testing or diagnosis (sp). So we have to go the natural route. It took us a year for DD and I know that does not seem long but it felt like a lifetime. So I am asking what you did to get pregnant, did you use those fertility tests did they work for you? any special diet or dare I say position ( I do have a tilted uterus) but have been told that does not matter. How long did it take for you to make #2? We have been working on this for over 6 months but nothing yet. So I am open to any sugestions.

What can I do next?

I know this is going to sound crazy, but just throw caution to the wind and have fun.
When my hubby and I were trying to get pregnant with #1, it took 6 months. I was terrified that something was wrong with one of us and that we'd never get pregnant.
So we made an appointment with the reproductive endocrinologist. Two weeks before we were supposed to go, we decided to stop temping, stop ovulation tests and everything. We were sick of scheduling sex.
We had a party, got a little tipsy and one thing led to another.
Well, that appointment ended up being my confirmation of pregnancy appointment.

I got to know my body by paying attention to the amount of cervical mucus. Doing this I knew when I was about to ovulate. Google the "Billings Method". Best of luck!!

I also have a tilted uterus and I have 3 boys. I know that doesn't help but it might make you feel a little better.

If you haven't already, get the book "taking charge of your fertility". It give a LOT of useful info about the monthly cycle - WAY more than I ever knew. It may help, couldn't hurt. One of the things I've heard is, after sex, to prop up your hips and lie down for a while and let gravilty help. Good luck!

My doctor told me to have sex every other day during ovulation ( do it every day and he'll be shooting blanks) and don't run to the bathroom afterwards (I was...duh.) but to put a pillow under your bum and lay still for 30 minutes. The first night we put this into affect, I swear we conceived. Baby #2 didn't take any time at all because by then we knew what we were doing. ;)

get the book "taking charge of your fetility" by toni weschler. It is great. I learned more about my body reading that book than anything else in my life. I totally felt like i was in control when i started charting. after several months i realized how my cycle worked and when i was fertile or not.

Good luck!

It took us over 20 months to conceive our second. After the first twelve months we had some basic testing done - some were covered by ins. some were not. It really didn't help explain why we were not getting pregnant anyway. You need to be on a good prenatal vitamin and possibly Omega 3-6-9 fish oil and your mate should also be on a good multivitamin for men along with L-carnitine. My husband took Fertiltaid for men from early-pregnancy-tests.com. I also purchased a used copy of The Infertility Cure from Amazon.com and followed some of the advice. Within 3 months of the fertilaid and the book we were pregnant. It might have been a coincidence but we will never know. It was a very long journey and we were beginning to think it would never happen. I totally understand your anxiety and frustration. I would also recommend babycenter.com and join one of the trying to conceive message boards for support and advice from other women in the same situation. Best of luck to you!

Oh - and I totally agree with Taking Charge of your Fertility. It really helps to know what is going on with your body and taking your basal body temperature will tell you so much about your cycles. It is the only way to know if you are truly ovulating (if your temp. stays elevated). There is a free website called fertilityfriend.com where you can chart your temps.

hey girl - sending u lots of hugs - i know it is so hard to get that negative test every month. We had a really easy time getting prego with our 2 boys - really not trying either time, the second time trying to avoid it because i just went off the pill. # 3 was a whole other story - it took a year and a half - I tried the ovulation tests for months, with no luck, and we had all sorts of tests done on both of us, thinking there was something wrong. I had finally come to a point where i was just so upset after a negative result, when i was SURE that we had hit the window right, i gave up on the ovulation test. I am a VERY late ovulator, and it turns out that the next month, on a spur of the moment we had some fun in the shower, on day 26, and somehow i got prego from that! Now we have a beautiful 7 month old baby girl (I had convinced myself i would only have boys!), and I would not have it any other way. I know it is so hard not to worry about it every month, but i do think stress affects things too - try to relax and have fun, and I am convinced the Lord has a plan for all of us, which may be different than the one we have in our heads lol :) sending you lots of hugs & I will keep you in my prayers,

hugs!

I have a tilted uterus AND PCOS, so the fact that we got pregnant at all is a miracle in itself. We got our older daughter pretty fast. However, we had several m/c's and had to wait 4 years to get a viable pregnancy the 2nd time. That time, though, was TWINS...NATURALLY.

Try avoiding as much gluten as possible. Avoid refined sugar. And above all--stop trying. Seriously. The more you try, the more you stress and the less your chances are of conceiving. Start enjoying your hubby again and make it a game instead of work. GL!

All great answers--make sure you are on prenatal vitamins now, to make sure your folic acid levels are good--research found it important to prevent birth defects. Also heard recently, to do the glutin-free diet--somehow it is more anti-inflamatory, helps to get pregnant and maintain the pregnancy. The baby aspirin and fish oil daily also help.

Have you heard of Natural Family Planning? The gist of the program is that you take your temp. every morning, and pay attention to your cervical mucous to help you determine when you ovulate. Then you know exactly when to have sex to achieve pregnancy! 99%effective. Its worth at least giving it a try! You can find info online or at the library! And paying attention and knowing your cycle gives a woman an incredible amount of self knowledge!

Good luck!

We tried for 3 years to have our first. The only thing that worked was a pill called "procreation". It is filled with vitamins and herbs. It pretty much just cleanses the female reproductive system. I am currently pregnant with baby #2 and we tried for 2 years and then I decided to try the pill again. Both times we got pregnant the first month. The doctor said to take my normal cycle # of days minus 14 and then add 5 and subtract 5. That would give me the 10 day window were I was most fertile. Then she said to have sex every other day during the 10 day window. So for ex. my normal cycle is 31 days. So I took 31 minus 14 which is 17. Then I subtracted 5 from 17 which is 12, and then added 5 to 17 which is 22. So I was most fertile from day 12 of my cycle to day 22. So we would have sex every other day between that 10 day window. It worked both times the first month. I don't know where you are from or how many places have this medicine, but I found it at Nature's Pharm in Greenwood, IN. They also have one in Lafayette, IN. They do have a website (www.natures-pharm.com), but they don't have this medicine listed on the website so you might be able to call them and order it that way. This has also worked for 4 other people I know. The pills are a 30 day supply and it is $20, so nothing compared to the expenses of fertility treatments.

Patience is a difficult thing to master when you want something so badly. It took me and my husband about 3 months to make baby #1. About 4 months to get baby # 2. The first try with #3...and I'm pregnant with #4 and we were NOT trying. You could try the ovulation predictor kits that most drugstores sell. I bought a kit for baby #2. It seemed to help us. I also believe timing is everything. You are more likely to conceive within 5-7 days after your period ends. I read this "fact" in an article and it seems to be reliable because of the time frames which I got pregnant. I don't know of positions that make conception more likely except to just not jump up right away and go to the bathroom. I'd use that time to cuddle instead. 6 months isn't very long though, I know it seems that way for you. Have a glass of wine (if you drink) and relax...and enjoy the moment. Sometimes putting so much emphasize on getting the deed done can interfere (cause undue stress) with conception. Just relax.

Take your temperature every day before you get out of bed. Graph it on graph paper. About 13 days into your cycle it will dip 1/2 to 1 degree. On or about the 14th day it will go up a degree from the 13th day. The best day to conceive is the day of the dip (rather than the day of the rise). Keep your feet up, elevated if possible, after sex for about 1/2 hour. Good luck!

Have you tried clocking your period when it starts and ends for the last 6 months to figure out when you are most fertile? Timing is everything ! I have a 9 yr old daughter and a 10 month old daughter and we didnt use any contraception for 4 yrs and werent trying but werent preventing , just figuring if it was meant to be we would get pregnant . Then we finally did after I started clocking my period and figuring out when I was the most fertile . It takes 6 months though to figure out your bodies schedule and it took us 8 months from start to when i found out I was pregnant . I never tried the fertility test , and It shouldnt matter with the tilted uterus.... my friend got pregnant 2 months after she got married while she was on the pill and had been for 12 yrs , took it religiously and she has a tilted uterus too. They also say eating healthy and exercising helps you to get pregnant faster :) Hope this helps!

I had a time getting pregnant with #1. I tried EVERYTHING it seemed to get pregnant. Ovulation tests, different positions and it just seemed like nothing was working...I had totally given up because I just felt like it was never going to happen for me. It was when I relaxed and stopped trying so hard that I got pregnant. I gave up and then it was almost exactly a month later when we found out that I was pregnant. I have a tilted uterus as well.

Your body just like with anything else, can't function properly under stress and the stress takes it's toll on you. Just try to relax and have fun! Enjoy it without having a goal in mind. Now I have a precious 4 month old daughter!

I know this was really different, but that is what worked for me.
I hope you are able to get pregnant with #2 really soon!!! Rootin' for ya! :o)

I am not trying for #2 but it took my husband and I 9 months of trying to get pregnant with our DS. What I found effective was taking my basal body temperature. I bought a basal body thermometer for like 10$ at walmart and you take your temperature every morning as soon as you wake up before you even get out of bed (I kept my thermometer and notebook and pen under my pillow). So you chart your temps and from that you can see exactly when you are ovulating to highten your chances of getting pregnant. This works better than traditional ovulation tests. Google 'basal body temperatures' and you can even record and chart your temps online.

Hi K.,

I am not an expert and maybe some of things were stated but I didn't have time to go through all of them. We didn't have any trouble getting pregnant the first time so when we decided for #2 I thought it would happen right away. I was doing the Natural Family Planning method too because I wanted to know when I was ovulating without buying those tests. When nothing happened after a few months I read Dr. OZ's book "You Having a Baby" and read the part on infertility. He suggested a few things we were doing wrong and got pregnant the next month. Some tips were him on top, not using lubricants (this was hard since I was sort of forcing myself to have sex everyday that I was ovulating and the days before and after), lying there for 15 minutes after, and it helps if you orgasim. There were other tips in there too such as your husband taking fish oil supplements to make his swimmers stronger, etc. Anyhow, don't know if this will help or not but thought I'd throw them out! Good luck!

PS I have heard taking Mucinex helps also!

I don't at all mean to be rude, but instead of timing or measuring or taking temperature, we used the every day and twice if we could manage it method. I got pregnant 4 times, on average every 2-3 months (had three very early miscarriages) and ended up with one beautiful daughter. We'd been together 15 years by then and had always had a very active sex life, but my husband still remembers those months fondly!

Seriously, do your best to keep the fun instead of "working on this".

we tried for months and months with my first, we were doing the temp thing, which was so awful because i wake up having to pee. and i did those ovulation kits, i called them stress in a box. but as for my first, we tried sooooo hard, i had my appt next month to get some testing done, and then for that month we didnt try at all because i would be due basically at my sisters wedding, at which i was the maid of honor. but twice that month we fooled around, like we did back before we were "trying" and just having fun. and that was it! i had michael 5 days before the wedding :) so, fast forward, someone told me to google toni weschlers taking charge of your fertility. learn about ewcm, the egg white cervical mucus. thats what worked for us for our next 2 kids. right away. best of luck to you
