My husband and I are going through some pretty rough times with 2 children under 3, business travel, living in a new area where we know no one and have no family, etc... We need to seek some marriage counseling I think. Does anyone have a referral for any person that they have actually used? Thanks!

We have been going to Jay Koch, and he specializes in sex therapy, which is what my husband and I needed help with, but he also does good with the relationship area too. ###-###-#### and he is on the plaza.

Excellent marriage counselor, and he and his wife will work with you and your husband for no extra charge. He is very flexible with payments, and has worked wonders for SO MANY marriages that I know of personally. Grant Wood, Kansas City Counseling Associates, in Overland Park, off of Metcalf and 97th. ###-###-####

Have you tried the internet or even the yellow pages. Sometime this does happen and alot of people do not like talking about this subject. I have found when you tell people your marriage is on the rocks, divorced, or not married with children, people will ignore you. Little do you know, there are alot of mariages that are a complete farse. They live behind a lie just for the comfort of saying their married.

I'm glad you are not afraid to ask for help. Is your husband willing to try to make the marriage work? If you need someone to talk too, please e-mail me at ____@____.com.

I have been there and done that.

I noticed you had a couple of responses with names and places, but if you want something even a little closer, I've seen a therapist personally here in Kansas City. The office is Midwest Christian Counseling and it's right off the Plaza in the KC Board of Trade Building. Their # is ###-###-####
and they have a website, too (http://midwestchristian.org/). They have a number of therapists there, but I, personally, have worked with Willa Klazowski and think she's really wonderful. She does marriage and family as well as personal counseling and my husband and I have had a couple of sessions with her together that have been really great.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

You sound almost exactly like my situation a year ago. My husband and I have been married for 2 1/2 years and have 2 infants 19 months and 5 months plus my six year old from a previous marriage. I stay at home and he is/was a workaholic who travels alot. We started counseling in February with Irene Bockelman who is in Overland Park or Olathe ###-###-####. She is not afftiliated with a church or a religion. We are Buddhist so that was a factor in our search. She has done wonders, we are actually almost done with counseling. She really helped me see the part I had in the disfunction as well. Also being a SAHM is very isolating if you need someone to talk to, please feel free to respond and we can exchange phone numbers. Maybe even arrange a play date for the kiddos.

I live in Olathe so cannot speak to something local to you. However, I do suggest that if you are not involved in a church; you might try to find one that fits for you guys. Going to church together can bring about amazing things for the both of you. It can also get you involved with meeting other couples.

We attend Life Church in Olathe and LOVE IT! It is a young relaxed environment where we feel safe and loved.

Good Luck to you and your family!
