I am due in early may with my 3rd child, my first two kids where with midwives, I have a new insurance (bluecross/bluesheild) and due to financial limitations we have to stay in network, I am looking for a birthing center or ob in or around the san Fernando valley that is not invasive and very supportive of the Bradley method. I have become so frustrated with the whole insurance limits I feel like the only birth i can have is standard invasive hospital birth. Someone please help!!
Congrats! I had a completely natural birth in a hospital 4 months ago. The key is to communicate prior to the delivery. Have a birth plan. Show it to your doctor/midwife, bring it with you, and have your partner be your advocate. I told my husband I could not be trusted when I was in that much pain, so he nor anyone else was to ask me any questions about rating my pain or if I wanted anything. Best wishes!

Did you talk to your previous midwives to see if they have any referrals
to midwives who work inside hospitals/birthing centers?

Why don't you just hire a midwife and have a homebirth? Homebirth has been proven to be safer and healthier than hospital births for low risk pregnancies. Yes, it is true that you can have an intervention free birth in a hospital but it is a fight and really who wants to fight with someone while they are in labor?

P.S. There are homebirth midwives that take insurance. Even if the midwife is not considered "in network" with your insurance she can request an exception with the company. In Texas it is done all the time.
Even in the hospital you are in control, they can not force any intervention on you!
I delivered all three of my kids with midwives at home. Even out of network after the birth, my blue cross blue shield covered about 60%. DON'T GIVE UP. STAY AT HOME!! Write a letter to your insurance and use the term, "Please do not discriminate against me because I am choosing an at home birth" I did that because I was told it would help and it did. Talk to your midwife, she may be able to work out a payment plan with you! STICK WITH IT. You don't have to go to a birth center or hospital. Email me if you want to talk with my ____@____.com.
