That's normal; it'll be better tonight.
So, I went this morning to have that tooth pulled, which was a lifesaver. Ihad it pulled at 11:00am and it is now1:30pm. I have had gauze and teabags constantly on the gum. My question is, How long should it bleed for? the paper he sent me home with just says, use gauze pads for first hour and a teabag after an hour and a half.
So; this was the first thing I had every written to Mamasource about and I was amazed at the replies. My tooth (or lack of) is great now. I am so thankful to everyone's advice before and after I had it pulled.

Give it another day, it should be all better. but if continues more then 2 or 3 days call your dentist. ouchhhhhhhh hope your feel better.
yeah you should probably take the gauze off now. if its still bleeding it shouldn't be bleeding very badly. I just had a tooth pulled a couple of months ago and found that after about a half an hour the gauze was causing me more pain then without the gauze. It stopped bleeding but the funny taste was still in my mouth from the blood. I don't remember if anyone on here said not to drink from a straw because that can also cause a dry socket. Don't freak out it will stop bleeding but like the other lady said you don't want a big clot coming out so gauze is unnecessary at this point and may only cause the blood to clot on the gauze instead of inside the socket.
I have never heard of using a tea bag on a pulled tooth area. It should have stopped bleeding within 1/2 hour. You didn't pull out the clot when you pulled out the first gauze did you? If there was a small clot in the gauze that was ok. You just didn't want to see a big one. You also shouldn't drink or eat anything very hot until tomorrow or the next day. It's been a couple of years since I had a tooth pulled, but I know you don't want to end up with dry socket. That is very painful. I've been told it hurts worse then the tooth did before it was pulled.
