Yes, it is normal. He is probably waking up because he is hungry based on your next question about dry diapers. Or he could be teething or just needs help getting back to sleep. He should wake up in the morning with a wet diaper and probably have a wet diaper every 2-3 hours during the day.
I'm not sure about how many ounces he should be eating per hour since I breastfeed.

What are you feeding him? I am guessing not nursing or you wouldn't know about the 2 ozs.
This is probably because he is missing nutrients necessary for him to sleep well. I would suggest a nutritional work up, or just go directly to Weston Price for coaching. Nourshing Traditions is a great book.
If you want more information just can contact me.
best, k

yes it is normal, but you really need to get him on a feeding schedule, make him go longer without eating so he'll eat "meals" or eat more during the day and not 'snacks' that will come in handy later so he gets well balanced nurtrition.

i'd say get him on a sleep schedule too, don't let him sleep past a certain time in the morning, regardless what time he goes to sleep

Hi CJ,
When my son was 7 months old he slept 20 hours a day! He went to sleep at 7pm and woke at 9am (14 hours) and then would nap from 11am-1pm and then again at 3pm-5pm! He slept so much and I was so board that we got pregnant again by the time he was 7 months old.

Kids need their sleep to grow and be smart (which my son is freeky smart!)
and fast forward to now 4 years old and he still sleeps 12 hours a night and is strong and smart!

Well, that's 8 hours, so you either have a really good sleeper. Babies usually eat every 2 hours or so and more than 2 oz. per hour! Call your pediatrician if you have questions or feel he may be ill. Have you taken his temperature?
