My son LOVES the Pixar Cars diecast cars. He's only 2 but already he's amassed a small fortune in these cars and my hubby and I realized that we were buying him a cars toy almost every time we went to Target. It got to a point where everytime my son son the Target logo, he'd yell out "Cars toys!" So my husband and I agreed, no more Cars toys. The first couple of times we went to Target it was a little hard (no tantrum but he became very quiet and sad as we left the store without a toy). The other day, we went to Target again and my son was all excited and I reminded him, "Noah, we're not going to buy any toys today. Just play in the store, OK?" and he parroted back "no more cars toys? play in store?" and I said "yes" and this conversation looped around several times like this. So we played in the toy aisle and when it was time to leave, I reminded him we're not buying anything and asked him if he wanted to put the cars back or if I should. He said he would and then he did. He then yelled "I did it!" and then proceeded to dance down the aisle towards the exit in glee. You could tell he was really proud of himself. It was really so adorable. :) Please share your cute stories - it's a slow afternoon!

My daughter is 5 and my son is 3. She struggles a bit with "Rs" and he with "Ls". He calls her "YIDDY" (her name is Lily) and she sounds like she's from NY City! Anyway, one day she asked what letter I was working on and I explained grown ups have learned their letters by this time and we work on other things. That's when she told me "Mommy is working on patience!". Out of the mouths of babes...

While we were cooking Thanksgiving dinner we let the kids come in and help on some meals. Well, we were having problems with one recipe, so I came to the computer to look it up - the 6 year old came with me and looked and I told him to go tell Daddy the missing ingredient. He did - but then Dad came out still confused and said to me, "Hurry up and show me, I'm burning the pan" To which the 6 year old said, "I'll go watch you burn the pan Dad."

My 3 1/2 year old put all his toy fish in the bath tub then "fed" them half a bottle of cinnamon.

It made a glorious mess but it sure smelled good!

I was putting my son to sleep the other night. After his bedtime story he said "Mom, your my best friend". He was looking me straight in the eye and then said, "I mean it". Loved it!!
Thanks for sharing your story, it was a very cute read!

My 4 year old daughter notices things like the commercials on TV and one was on last night for a jewelry store. She told me Daddy needed to get me a heart-shaped diamond ring for my other hand because we were married and in love. I told her to go let Daddy know that. ;)

My son likes to make a big toy mess on the floor using a toy broom. I told him that whoever makes the mess has to also clean it up, followed by a question "who made this mess?". I thought I was clever, until my 2.5 year old replied "the broom made the mess".

The other night I was flipping through a catalog reading sayings on funny t-shirts out loud. "Too much pi can give you a large circumference." Husband was rolling (he is an engineer). Our boys, 11 and 8, both were laughing right along. After further discussion (we wanted to know if they actually understood), the 11 year old got it for the math connotation and the 8 year old the literal meaning. The eight year old understood that it was a math reference but they oldest totally missed the fact if you eat too much pie you get fat. It was hysterical. Both smart kids but the youngest will totally get by in the world because he actually has common sense......the oldest while being at the top of his class, sometimes just makes me shake my head :)
