My 2 Yr Old Is Starting to Peel on Her Hand and feet...just Dry Skin?

My daughter will be 2 in August. She had a couple of dry skin patches on her stomach so I bought some eczema relief Aveeno lotion that I put on every night now. I noticed about a week ago that bottom inside of her hands were peeling. She hadn't been swimming nor did she have a sun burn. Now for the past fee days I've noticed the bottom of her feet are peeling also. It started just under her toes but is spreading out some. It's not an exorbitant amount of skinor anything, I've just never seen that except maybe right after a child is born. Any ideas on what could be causing this? And any suggestions on a good skin care line to use that may help? She is washed with Johnson and Johnson baby wash, I used J&J night time lotion until I noticed the dry patches on her stomach and now use the aveeno eczema cream. I haven't changed detergents either.
Thank you!

What can I do next?

I would take her to the doctor and get an exam. Peeling skin on hands and feet can be indicators of underlying conditions. But they wouldn't typically be the ONLY symptoms. Your doctor would know what other symptoms to be aware of or ask about. It could be as simple as psoriasis/dermititis due to some sort of allergy (soap, or something in your carpets/floors even), or a food sensitivity, or it could be indicative of something more serious. Has your daughter had a fever at all in recent weeks? It could just be a virus. Or it could be more serious, like Kawasaki's.
A doctor can ask the correct questions and examine your child to give you a diagnosis..... we can't do that on this site.

But peeling skin on palms and feet is not just a "normal" thing, if you have no known explanation for it. Get a diagnosis from her pedi.

I would stop using the J&J immediately. Our pediatrician told me even adults shouldn't use it. It's the harshest stuff on the market. I'd make a dr. appointment to get their opinion.

Sounds like a type of eczema! My daughter had something similiar on her hands and the dermatologist suggested Amalactin. You can buy at Walgreens. It helped and has since gone away. However, if it continues, see a dermatologist!

Victoria has a good point, it could be indicating something serious so contact her pediatrician and have them check her out. I am aware of a radio personality whose 18 month old son developed Kawasaki disease, and one of his symptoms was unexplained peeling feet.

Whatever is going on her doctor can make treatment recommendations, and hopefully it's just overly dry feet that can be taken care of with an over-the-counter cream.

I would definitely check with her doctor...eczema usually doesn't cause peeling on the hands and feet. I know if your child has athlete's foot, that can cause the skin to peel...if she's had it on her feet and been itching it, it could easily spread to her hands.

I know that seems a little icky, but my oldest beautiful little girl is prone to athlete's foot ever since we took her swimming at the YMCA for a winter and she walked through the wet locker room. :( I have to make sure to keep her feet dry and clean all the time, which is tough during swim season!
