He has had a constant headache since the wreck ... almost two weeks. He has seen the family doctor and a neurologist and was prescribed Elavil, plus takes Etodolac and Extra Strength Tylenol. We are praying that the headache will stop soon. Anyone have this happen to their child that could give me some hope?

What can I do next?

I was in an accident, but not a car accident. I went to the reg. Dr. and he sent me to an ortopedic and they compleated x-rays & 2 MRI's.
I was having problems with headaches, shoulder, and arm.
The dr. started with the simple solutions, not surgery.
The first Dr. I went to said as soon as he walked in the room I had to have surgery, this was looking at 1 x-ray.
THAT is why I went to my current Dr.
Results:
I had bulging disc's in C2 through C7 in my neck and they were pushing on my spine and causing nerve problems including headaches, shoulder and arm pain, and some loss in feeling in arm. It may not be the problem with your son, but it could be worth trying. I havn't had a headache or arm restrictions since.

I work for LaPlaza Family Chiropractic in Colleyville we see alot of people right after car accidents. Concussions are not easy to recover from. I know cause my daughter had one as well but not from a car accident. Chiropractic helped. Not saying the meds won't help but it won't heal as fast as an adjustment.

Feel free to give us a call ###-###-#### you can ask for me if you would like.

I suggest chiropractic but be careful - loads of quacks...call Dr. Sullivan/Dr. Dunham at ###-###-####. Let them know you heard about it from me and they'll give you the entire first check/xrays, etc. free. Also, try massage - Sandy at the NRH is great and she does a method taht is needle free accupuncture and it really works - jin shin jyutsu, http://www.nrhtx.com/dept_rec_massage.aspx. Thoughts, prayers.

I also recommend a chiro! They work wonders...just be careful who you go to. I had a severe concussion from an accident when I was about 14. It was awful! I remember that headache!! ...the eeg tests, cat scan, etc. I was just miserable but it does get better with time. I was on the meds too but they didn't really help me much. I would see if he can take ibuprofen - it's an anti-inflammatory and it would probably help the most. He just needs lots of rest and fluids. I became dehydrated because I didn't want to drink anything because I was in so much pain (which in turn just made the pain worse). ...lots of rest and quiet : ) Good luck! I hope he gets to feeling better soon.

I was in a car accident at 16 - I was a passenger when a car ran a stop sign at 40mph; the car flipped and I hit my head HARD on the side window. I had headaches too, but it turned out it was from a neck injury, NOT a concussion/brain injury. If you haven't already, take him for a head/neck Xray to rule out any serious damage to his neck vertebrae. I also highly recommend taking him to a chiropractor for a full evaluation and treatment. My head & neck were better than they were before the accident after about 3 months of treatment (I was skeptical about chiropractors before that experience, but I'm a believer now).
