Don't worry - some kids just get teeth later than others. My friend's son didn't have any until he was 19 months old. Now he is 8 and has a full set, and is starting to get his adult teeth which are also coming in later than average. It doesn't seem to have caused any troubles, and his teeth are probably protected by coming in later.

R.,
I wouldn't rush your kids teeth coming in. I heard the longer it takes them to get them the longer they stay in and the healthier they are.. not sure how true it was but my kids didnt get their teeth from 10 months to a year. My oldest just lost her 1st tooth and she is 6 and half now. She was the only one in her kindergarten class to not lose a tooth and I was the same way and NEVER had a cavity. I would think of it as a blessing. But if you are worried about it I would talk to your pediatrician or who ever your child's doctor is. I am sure they know the correct information. Hope this helps =)

R., I have 2 children who got their first teeth after 15 months old you and I are blessed my dentist told me that they would have strong and healthy teeth. This has turned out to be true both of them never had a cavity or root canal in either their baby or adult teeth. They will however fallout later than other children but again don't worry that just means they are strong teeth. My son got his 12 year old molars at 16. Check with a pediatric dentist just to make sure that he has tooth buds if this will give you peace of mind.

They all get teeth; some much later and some very early.
I certainly would not do anything to hasten a normal
happening.

If you have a good repore with your dentist, give him.her a call and ask if you need to bring your son in. He/she will likely say no and to just keep waiting. But it might give you peace of mind. Late teeth run in my family (my father was around two when he got his first tooth). My daughter got her first tooth around 10 months and my nephew was close to two - and his dad is a dentist! But now he's got a full set of teeth. So don't worry. They'll come in.

Hi R., The only time I have seen a procedure is when my son had a blood blister on his gum. The incoming tooth had broken a vessel. The dental surgeon had to slit the gum to allow the tooth to come through. Otherwise you just have to wait. I have heard that the longer the teeth take to come in, the stronger they are. hi,
stop worrying. there is nothing you can do to make your son's teeth come in. my daughter got her first tooth at 14mo and now at 16 mo only has two. i myself didn't get any of my teeth until i was two. it's genetic, and they say the longer it takes for the teeth to come in, the healthier his teeth will be as he gets older. relax, it's not a big deal. there is nothing my 16mo can't eat.

Not to worry. My son, (now 10 years old), did not get his first tooth until he was 14 months. The dentist said it was not a problem, every child is different. The up side of it is that when it comes time to fall out, they are also later than other kids. My son didn't lose his front teeth until he was 6 and a half. He dealt with it much better since he was old enough to understand.

My two kids didn't get teeth until 13 and 18 months. Now, at 4 1/2 and 2 1/2, they have full sets. Their doctor always said that it was unusual but nothing to worry about. She also said that it is possible that since my kids are on the small side that the teeth just followed the skeletal growth of the rest of their bodies. The good news is that it's better for the teeth to stay inside longer!
