Also, please skip the Hyland teething tablets as they contain an unknown amount of belladona, a very potent opiate which acts as a sedative and is addictive with frequent use. I encourage you to research them if you are tempted to try them.

Weight always trumps age, personally I don't even know why they list age ranges.

weight but can't hurt to verify the dosage with the doctor. My DD only needed pain relief to get sleep otherwise she was fine. Although I second the sophied the giraffe recommendation. She loved that thing!

Other teething remedies:

* Wet baby washcloth that you pop into the freezer for 30 min
* If you have one of those mesh food bags that they make for babies, I'd put a popsicle or a peeled apple in it (only do this if you have the mesh bag)
* Sophie the Giraffe - my 7 month old's favorite teether
* Amber teething necklace - I don't know if they work, but some people swear by them
* Hyland's Teething Tablets (available at Target, Walmart & Walgreens)
My son LOVES to chew on the cuff of his shirt, which he'll pull down over his thumb

Ask, your Pediatrician.

But if he doesn't need it, then he doesn't need it.
Not all kids need it, when teething.
My daughter didn't, my son did.

My kids liked to knaw on a frozen washcloth when teething, when they were babies.
