I need help of thinking of something to get my mom for Christmas. I am looking to spend around $50-$100. She is really into sewing right now. I even thought of maybe a gift card for a house cleaning but I don't want her to think her house is dirty.

If someone was going to spend that amount on you, what would you want?

What can I do next?

Here's what we got my mother-in-law who is into sewing right now too - one of those craft lights with a built in magnifier. She was telling us that the dim light of her sewing machine and the small needle holes are hard for her to see sometimes, especially with certain fabrics. We got her a table-top lamp for $30 at Fry's. You could always combine it with a gift card to Hancock's or JoAnn's for sewing notions and fabrics.

Depending on her sewing trend, check out hobby lobby or Michaels for gifts/gift cards.
I'm a scrapbooker, and I am in heaven when someone gives me a gift card to one of those places!

Talk with your mom and listen to her, she might have a special project in mind and you getting something towards that would be a big surprise. Is she planning on making a quilt soon? You could get some fabric or batting for it. There is always thread in large size cones in black, white, grey or tan that you could get (they go with most colors when quilting).

To be a serious crafter you are not an immaculate house cleaner. To be an immaculate house cleaner you are not a serious crafter. The time spent on cleaning you could use to craft and visa versa. Good luck and have a happy holiday season. The other S.

Cash... save the fees on that visa gift card. Look up money origami for an original presentation, and pair it with a note that tells her how much you love her / what you remember doing together from your childhood / Thank you for the adult you have become..

I wrote my dad one of those letters the year I had my first child. He still has it, tattered and worn, in his wallet - and takes it out to show at least 3 people a week. Next time, I'm going to type it up, DL size and have it laminated to make it easier for him. :)

Does she have a rotary cutter and mat (large and small are both handy)? This is something I put off as it just seemed to not be worth the expense and I'm sorry a I waited so long. Also, a nice ruler is a great accessory -I have one that's clear plastic about 18" long and 2" wide - it is great for cutting out certain projects. Also, does she have nice organizational items for accessories - that's another I put off due to expense, but they can be great for making your work efficient. The containers you find in the hardware section are great for storing bobbins, needles, pkgs of elastic, buttons, etc. Also, a really good pair of scissors that's reserved only for cutting fabric is a must. Again, something some of us try to scrimp on but well worth the expense in the end.

Also, the gift cards for Jo Ann, Hancock's or Hobby Lobby would be great.

Hi,

I would enjoy a new pretty necklace. Willis Jewelry in Rockwall has some very long strands of pearls in different colors on sale for $50.00 regularly $100.00. We just bought some for my Mother in Law for her 70th birthday and she loved them.

Just an idea.

My mom sews too and she enjoys spending time and money in auctions online. She gets unique supplies that way. What about a Visa gift card so she can use it on ebay. Or a gift card for Michaels or Joanne's?

If you don't want to do a gift card, you could have her pick out something in the price range online, and you pay for it and have it delivered to her.
