Have you had sinus issues? That can cause phlegmy/bloody discharge. Please do call the doctor - better to play it safe!
HEllo Moms,
I am 13 weeks pregnant and this morning i had a little bit of morning sickness, and i noticed that when i threw up it was only phlem and blood. Do you think i should be worried? Sorry if its TMI!!!
Hello everybody!
Thank you all who responded....i went in and saw the nurse and she said that i probably strained my throat while vomiting and that is what caused the blood. We did hear the babys heartbeat and she said everything is ok. :-)

I would definitely let your dr know, just to be safe. But one thing about pregnancy and dry climates like Chicago is that your membranes in your nose get super dry - that's why nosebleeds are not terribly uncommon. So it's possible that you swallowed a little bit of blood in your sleep and it came up when you were sick. But check in to be sure.
Do you suffer from stomach problems? Do you have an ulcer? Does iron irritate you? I dont' think you should have blood in your vomit, unless you have had a sinus infection or nose bleeds that may have drained down into your stomach. Have you had a sinus infection or nose bleeds? If not, then call the doctor.
M.,
You are probably fine but you should always report spitting up blood to your doctor. During pregnancy your nasal passages and gums swell so that might be where the blood is from. But to be on the safe side I think you should call your doctor. A.
It never hurts to call your doctor, you can even call and just ask to talk to a nurse if you're shy about calling the doctor him/herself (I always was). This did happen to a friend of mine as well. She was throwing up so much with morning sickness she developed little tears in her throat that made blood appear in her vomit. The dr. gave her some medicine to control the nausea and the rips healed fairly quickly. You may be able to do the same thing.
Good luck!

Perhaps you had some spagetti sauce or something elsse red? I would definately let your doctor know asap. I had the same thing many years ago when i was pregnant with my daughter. Turned out to be bleeding ulcers. The doctor put me on a ulcer diet right away, and apparently that took care of the problem. Stayed on that diet for the rest of the pregnancy and had a perfectly healthy, happy little girl.
Stay well.
If it is mixed with phlem, I would not be worried, if it continues then I might be concerned. I am had a similar problem, and although I was throwing it up, it was post nasal drip making me sick and it was mixed with blood gross I know! If it continues, then give your doctor a call :)
M. - IMHO no,I wouldn't worry unless it's A LOT of blood, but if it's bothering you enough to post here maybe it wouldn't hurt to call the Dr. :)
Have you had a lot of vomiting with your morning sickness? I had extreme morning sickness with my son. I vomited 1-3 times a day until I was 5 1/2 months along. If your stomach was empty and you have not had any nasal issues, what came up could be stomach acids. Those acids tend to be very harsh and if you have been vomiting a lot can sometimes irritate your throat enough to make it bleed. After you vomit gargle with salt water. That's what my doc told me. I had it so bad that everytime I vomited I would break tiny blood vessels all over my face neck and arms. None of this is normal but it is no cause to worry if you have extreme morning sickness.
definitely call your doc.
Also, can you keep saltines and water by your bed? Maybe eating a little before you even wake up would help and also give your belly something to mix with the stomach acid.
Never too much info-that's why we are all here! I'd give your ob/gyn a call just to be on the safe side.
