Mommy & Me Classes?

Try the local libraries. The Chappaqua library has lots of storytimes (including Laptime for infants on Fridays). Also, local community centers often offer cheap classes - you do have to register (usually for 10-15 weeks), but it's so cheap you don't mind not going every week.

They do a workout type class with moms and babies in strollers. I think there is one in Briarcliff on T & Th. I've never been but it sounds great! I wanted to go while on leave, but I never got around to it!

There is also Yogaworks in Irvington. (www.yogaworks.com)They sometimes do a series of Mommy & Me classes, but it's not always happening.

The public libraries have free programs like storytelling/singing that don't require registration. I've been to Mt. Kisco's, and Chappaqua Library has an excellent series of classes. Gym and music classes are available at Music Together (varied locations), Musicville (Mt.K.), Jodi's Gym (Mt.K.), the Little Gym (Mt.K.) and World Cup Gymnastics (Chap.), but require registration. I love the program at Jodi's Gym. These places all offer a free trial class. In White Plains, there is weekly storytelling at Pottery Barn Kids.

We do Gymboree, which I actually would not recommend (we were signed up before we moved so I'm just finishing up my 3 month obligation here). My daughter is a bit older, so the younger program might be better, but I generally don't hear the greatest reviews.

Most of the public libraries have music/storytime programs. The one at Greenburgh library is pretty good. They separate walkers from non-walkers, and the younger program is pretty low-key. We also do Music Together, which would be good for a younger baby. It's a mixed age class, but you kind of do the class in a way that's appropriate for your little one. We started it pretty young, and I believe they're doing an abbreviated summer session, so you would probably not have a problem with the registration issue. There is also Musical Munchkins, which people seem to like a lot, but we've never done it. Not sure if they have a summer session or not.

I hear mixed reviews of Little Gym. Some love it, some hate it.

The Ossining Public Library has lovely classes that are FREE. You don't even need a library card. And since the building is new even the accommodations are delightful.

I know that the Little Gym will let you come in for a trial class. If you explain your situation I am sure many places can be flexible and work soemthing out with you. I know in Katonah on Friday mornings they have story time, so I am sure that there are other library's closer to you as well. Also in Goldens Bridge there is a center, and you pay a $40 membership for a year and each class is $20.

There is a nice Mommy and Me yoga class which takes place Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30am at Destination Maternity in White Plains. You don't have to be a yoga enthusiast to get a lot out of it. (I am and I love it too.) It's a very relaxed and friendly class with a very nice teacher who loves to hold the babies and help the moms get through the class to they can stretch and relax. It's only $12 too and you can just show up. She likes to know in advance if you're coming - but it really doesn't matter if she doesn't. You can also get a class card for $100 for ten classes. I drive down from Ossining. I couldn't find anything in this upper Westchester area that was a drop-in sort of program. With a small baby it's impossible to always stick to a schedule and they totally get that at this studio. Sue also teaches a toddler class the same days but at 1pm. And she teaches a grown-up class on Saturdays in Briarcliff which I hope to start going to some day. Good luck
