I have a 3 year old daughter that is ready to potty train. She tells us when she has to go and when she is wet. But when i put her in big girl panties she will pee in them. Then she will say i peed. We have done the treat, sticker chart, money and telling her good job, and praising her other ways...but she still pees in her panties. What can i do

What can I do next?

I also have a little girl, who just potty trained. I was surprised how much harder she was then my boys to train! I would also agree to give it a break. Try again in a while with a fresh start. I think girls have to make up their own minds to potty train! I wish you all the luck and know that it will happen!!

Give up. No for real. The more attention she gets from peeing in her panties, the more she's going to do it. She knows where she's supposed to go and how to do it, so don't bother with it. When she pees, just look at her with no expression on your face at all and in a calm even voice tell her to change her panties and then walk away. Then when she doesn't pee her panties give her lots of posative attention. When she gets sick of not being noticed when she pees her panties then she'll stop.

My daughter is just under 3 and next week will be a month potty trained for her. She went through a long period of peeing in her panties and then telling us before we got on track. We would just stop and go back to diapers because she just didn't WANT to do it yet. Once she made up her mind, it was a breeze from there. Then we would do the treat each time, then we went to each time she did "number 2", and then eventually she'd go in there and go all by herself. We also tried using rubber pants over her underwear and when she'd pee in her pants, I guess it felt worse for her and she would be really upset. That really seemed to move things along a little faster for her.

I was having the exact problem w/ my daughter, who is also 3 and nearly all the way potty trained. What worked for us was the timer sysytem. Setting a timer for 20 minutes (less if she has not gone in a while or just had a lot to drink). It really does help and it helps them get into the routine. It was my last resort, and it really helped me out. Now Elena goes on her own and for the most part keeps dry through the night.

This is easy.....let her run around the house naked, when you see her kinda doing the "pee pee dance" take her, when you go pee take her to go pee too, every half hour take her to go potty, state to her in a calm but firm voice that she has to pee in the toilet because it is stinky to potty in her undies, when you put her on the toilet make a game of it...tell her to listen for her to potty and then when she pottys clap for her and make a huge deal out of it. DONT use money and treats because thats just bribing which to me is plain wrong.

Try putting her on the potty about every two hours. If she does not go the first time, get her back in there every 10 to 15 minutes thereafter until she goes. Then start over 2 hours later. Once she gets in the habit of going every couple of hours, that should also cut down on accidents after she is potty trained.

Another thing you might want to try is after she drinks something, set her on the potty about 15 to 20 minutes later. That's usually about the time it takes for the liquid to go through her system.

i DO NOT agree...DO NOT give up... my daughter just finished potty training three months before she turned three... she would do the same thing... i eventually realized it was for attention that she done it... when she wouls pee in her panties i would ask her why she didn't peepee in the potty and i would put her in the corner in her wet panties while i went to go get her some clean dry clothes and a washcloth to clean her up... i DID NOT clean her or change her clothes, she did while i watched to make sure she got her clothes on right, if she needed help i HELPED... after about a week she was totally potty trained not even any accidents through the night either... every child is different on how they react... try different things to see what works... give one thing a chance to work before moving to the next... it takes time... she will end up getting tired of having to clean herself or change herself or whatever else you try and she will go in the potty soon... good luck and God Bless

My daughter was completely uninterested in going in the potty until after she turned 3. I would get her excited about wearing big girl panties and having her own potty, but she would continually go in her panties. So I gave up for a while and gave her a break, and finally at about 3 1/2, I told her it was time for her to go in the potty like a big girl, I said she needed someone to give her a push in the right direction. We did the sticker chart (again) and this time she did it, she had a few accidents, but nothing like before. We did pull ups for a little while, then just at night. I couldn't believe that it worked. I also had her take care of her accidents (and still do). She has to take her wet clothes off and re-dress herself, and I give her a towel to clean up the floor. It gives her more incentive to stay dry. I hope this helps!
