Mom Looking for a Fun/great Dentist for My Daughter

I am looking for a dentist to take my almost 5 year old daughter to. This will be her first time visiting a dentist and I want to make sure the person I take her to is very fun and very good with children so she isn't scared and walks away from the experience with good memories. I live in the Glenwood area, but am open to taking her anywhere as long as the dentist is good/fun. Any suggestions?

We go to Dr. Ed Ruiz. He is in Homewood on Governor's Hwy. He is very, very nice, as is his office staff. I don't know of any dentist that is really "fun", but Ed is very kid-friendly!

My daughter knocked her tooth out last year I Dr. Testa in Flossmoor was who I took her too. He is a pedatric dentist, I did not have dental insurance at the time and paid out of pocket his prices were still reasonable. It was I have to say a wonderful experience! The nurses are wonderful it is very geared towards children, my daughter actually said she wanted to go back and see the doctor.

Dr. David Mayer in Homewood is GREAT with kids. His office is new (he's not, but his office has moved and is totally re-done)and he and his staff are good with kids. They take a picture of the kid when they don't have cavities and you get a sticker each time you don't. Cute!!

Hi S., if you are up for going anywhere, might I suggest my dentist's office in Tinley Park. It's a father and son practice. McGonigle and Associates. They are the friendliest dentists I've ever met. I used to take my daughter to a dentist in Olympia Fields but their practice was too barbaric for me. They actually strapped the kids down and if that didn't work, they would have the assistants help restrain the kids. Once when I took my daughter she had to have some work done and needed shots to numb her mouth. When she cried the dentist grabbed her face pointed at her and said "I told you I didn't want to hear that crying". I wrote the insurance company and file a complaint with the ADA. Then I found the McGonigle's. They have TVs so the kids can lay back and enjoy any DVD they select while getting their teeth done. The entire office staff is very friendly. They all make a point of becoming familiar with you and remember just about everything you tell them. On top of that they have late hours as late as 8 pm. You can't beat it. If you'd like to give them a try the number is ###-###-####. Tell them T. Cobbs sent you.

We use Dr. Carmella Barrett-Perry in Flossmoor (across from Infant Jesus of Prague Church on Flossmoor Road). The other dentist in her practice is Dr. Salughter and they are both pediatric dentists. They are super nice, have TV screens in each room, the kids wear sunglasses during their appt., get to pick flavors of toothpaste, etc... all of the typical kid stuff you want at a dentist. The staff there is super nice too.

Hi, when my daughter was little she was terrified of the dentist so he suggested I take her to a pediatrician dentist. I found one in the Homewood/Flossmoor area, her name is Dr. Carmella Perry. She and her staff are really nice & she worked with my daughters fears. She was great for us. Unfortunately our insurance changed so we couldn't have her any longer. Check her out & see what you think. & if you don't like her keep searching till you find someone that you or better yet your kids like. Good Luck !!

My son has always had problems with his teeth. It was a constant fight to take him to the dentist. That was before. Now I am happy to say he loves his new dentist. It took a while to find him. There is really not that many options when it comes to pediatric dentist. I tried a few of them trust me. Some where not so kid friendly (my son would have to be physically restrained) I hated seeing him like that. He is so scared of needles. They tried everything and nobody wanted to work with him. They said he needed to be "put under" This happended right around the time that they had a little girl on the news that passed away due too dentist giving her too much anestisia. Kept trying new dentist till I found the one I felt the best with. The receptionist is so nice and helpful. My husband was the one that took him there. He said the dentist looked no so friendly but once he started talking to my son he made him and my husband feel so at ease it was great. They didn't have to put him under anything and he didn't even know that when they stuck him with the needle. Happy to say now we all get our dental work done there. To me is worth the almost one hour drive not seeing my son come out crying. He comes out laughing everytime we go there. I HIGHLY recommend North Suburban Dental ###-###-#### the address is 4833 Church Street Skokie, IL 60077.

My kids see Dr. Steve Kuhn in Frankfort. They are great over there. My oldest was fine with going to the dentist, but my younger one kept saying he didn't need to go. We switched to Dr. Steve's office, and my little guy couldn't wait to jump in the chair when my older one was done. It was actually the dental hygenist (ask for Cheryl) that motivated him to go, but Dr. Steve & Dr. Dennis are also great. Keep in mind though it is a specialized office--pediatric dentistry--and with specialties come special prices. It think it is worth it, but have heard others complain.

I can recommed the office of Carmella Barrett Perry, DDS. It's in Flossmoor, 2711 Flossmoor Road, tel. ###-###-####. They only see children and adolescents. I have already brought my toddler there and two of my stepdaughters. One of them has a lot of work to be done incl. temporary crowns etc. Needless to say, it's painful for her and she doesn't like to go to the dentist. But she does love the dentist herself and always gets her big hug when she sees her :-) The office is full of toys to distract the kids and they always get a little gift after they're done.
