Is anyone using the Mirena IUC? I just had mine inserted a few weeks ago and I bleed everyday. I anticipated some irregular bleeding, but not everyday. Did anyone else experience this? If so, when did the bleeding stop?

What can I do next?

I'm also using the Mirena IUD, and have daily spotting/bleeding/minor cramping since the beginning (about six weeks ago). I am glad you inquired and appreciate all the feedback since I was starting to become concerned too. Besides the spotting, I am very happy with it.

I have been using Mirena for a little over a year, with no problems. I never experienced any bleeding. As a matter of fact I don't actually get any periods anymore. Only a slight pink discharge, but I do experience cramping a few days a month. Have you had a follow up appointment to verify the IUC is still intact. I had a follow up appointment about a month or so afterward just to make sure it had not come out of place. Maybe you should check with you doctor. I hope everything goes well for you. For me at least I think it's great. No problems, I don't feel anything.
Best of luck

I've had the Mirena for almost 2 years. During the first 6mths I did have irregular bleeding, sometime 3 weeks straight, then a week without bleeding. But now my periods are regular, but with strong cramps and it's now seven days. Prior to Mirena it was 3 days, heavy and very little cramps. But overall I am very pleased with the IUD.

Hi S.,
For me it was between 5-6 months of irregularity, then finally everything went smoothly, periods so light I only used panty-liners during my 3 day periods. I had it placed 4 and a half years ago. Had it removed 4/25/07 to get pregnant, I'm due on the 3rd of next month. And you can bet I'll have it placed again at my 6wk check-up if possible. By the way my Hubby never felt it. I say give it some more time, it's great peace of mind, Good luck!

Hi Sabrina,
I bled for a month or so. I now have no cramping & when I do have a period I only have some spotting. I've had it for about 3 months & I love it. They say in time that the spotting will probably even stop.

That bad news is I spotted for a year. The good news is It has almost been five years and I haven't gotten periods at all for the last four years. I am going to get another one reinserted soon. I am not looking forward to spotting for a year, but I was so happy to have a birth control I didn't have to think about with no periods for 4 years! Good luck, hopefully yours will not last as long!

Hi S., My Name is A.. Yes I am using the mirena. I also bled for about a month , month and a half. Also it has been difficult having intercourse . My husband complains that it pokes him. I now get terrible cramping around the time of the month. I have to admit that i have grown accustome to it. No more having to get refills or or getting shots or anything i am happy with it. no more having to worry about getting pregnant.. till i am ready. hope you like?

I had quite a bit of bleeding with the Mirena IUD for awhile. I can't remember how long it lasted but the doctor said I could have spotting for six weeks. I haven't had any bleeding since soon after it was inserted and that was about seven months ago. I would say if it lasts past six weeks you should call your doctor.

I got mine in October of last year and I bled for about 3 months. Sometimes heavy, sometimes not, but at least a little every day for 3 months! It slowly went away and now I just get a regular period, with some spottoing that lingers a few days after. I'd say 10 days a month with bleeding or spotting.

I have it, and had very light bleeding a 1week before i got my "real" period. It seems like the whole process lasts 3 weeks, which is annoying! My doctor said it takes a few months to work itself out. I have had mine for 4 months, and it's getting better, but still the same cycle. My sister has it too, but experiences it completely different. I do however have acne like a 16yr old kid, and I am hating it!!!!!!!!! I breakout only on my upper lip/nose area, I was just gonna ask if anyone else has experienced this and if so what they did. I wish I had more to offer......
