I am taking my 5 month old to the state fair tomorrow, I was wondering what the fair offers for changing and feeding areas. Also, I was wondering about taking her on the bus with a stroller. Do they allow strollers on buses or not? I guess I am not nervous at all but just curious if someone out there could give me some advise on where everything is. I also forgot to ask if it is ok not to bring her in the infant carrier or are people going to be giving me looks? There aren't seat belts on buses anyway.
We had such a wonderful time, thanks to everyones advise. We didn't end up taking the bus because the lot was full. Driving gave us a quick out if need be. She was so stimulated by the end of the day she fell right asleep in the car.
Yes - strollers are allowed on the bus. And I'd leave the car seat at home. As for changing stations, all of the public restrooms I used had them. Have fun!
The FM 107.1 booth has a "lactation station" next to them. It has shade, water, and places to feed and change your little ones. I can't remember where their booth is exactly, but their website is http://www.fm1071.com- you should be able to find it there.
We took our son to the state fair when he was only 6 weeks old - I changed him on the bench's and in his stroller. Ever since that night he has slept through the whole night!

As far as changing and feeding go, FM 107.1 has been advertising their Lactation Station. They have a quiet tent with comfy rocking chairs where moms can feed and change their babies with some privacy.
Not sure about the stroller on a bus thing, but would suggest using one that folds up small and easily. I'm sure that no matter what you do about a car seat on the bus (bring one or don't), someone will give you dirty looks. You're probably best off not bringing one (as much as I hate to say that), just because it would probably be more hassle than anything.

We took my two month old last year. Not sure about changing areas. We just fed him on the nearest bench!
We did take the bus. Strollers are allowed. We used a baby carrier and that worked really well (strollers are kind of a pain out there with the crowds and the curbs and stuff).

You should go to the Care and Assistance building (lost and found, first aid, missing person, etc) located by Heritage Square where they have private, air conditioned (kinda) rooms to nurse your baby. They have four or five rooms with chairs and changing stations.

We took our baby to the State Fair when she was almost 8 months old. I hated it. I REALLY hate strollers, crowds and noise so I may be a bit skewed. And it's always hot there. She was fine though, she liked looking around and seeing everything. We would just change her in the grass - easier than finding bathrooms. I have heard that the "lactation stations" are often hot and stuffy, but maybe that has changed recently.
When taking the bus, you are supposed to fold up your stroller and hold your child on your lap. Though a lot of people don't do that. If you have a large stroller, the driver will put down the lift for wheelchairs, and then you just move the stroller into the wheelchair area on the bus. If you have an umbrella stroller, I would still suggest the wheelchair area to sit as there's a bit more room, but I suppose it will be wherever there is room on the bus.
Also, you don't say if anyone is accompanying you. Hopefully there is in case you need a potty break or you want to see something and baby needs quiet time.
Yes, You can take a stroller on the bus. I even took a big red radio flyer wagon on the bus last year. Good Luck ! I'm sure everything will be just fine.
Yes, you can take your stroller on the bus. We took our son last year when he was 8 months old. There wasn't a designated changing station that I found so we just reclined the seat in the stroller and changed him. He also sat in his stroller to eat. It was pretty easy and for the most part he had a good time people watching with mom and dad.
I think there is a "lactation station" somewhere in the fair. (Go here for more info-http://www.fm1071.com/promotions/StateFair/) I'd also guess that there are changing station things in the bathrooms. Otherwise, just count on changing diapers in the stroller or on a bench so I'd bring a changing pad.
