Actually, humas are the only creature on earth who still drink milk after we are weaned; there are many other foods, as others have said, that are better sources of the needed fats, calcium and vitamins, so if she isn't into milk, no worries. My pediatrician recommends not giving children juice. (Juices provide a lot of sugar without meeting any real need, so, for a young child, the choice between milk and juice is like the choice between a popsicle and a potato.) Our ped. advised letting our son choose between milk and water, because kids love to be have the control of making a choice, and it is a choice you can feel good about. Plus, it can help start a pattern of choosing water to satisfy thirst as your child gets older, which is much healthier than juice and/or sodas. (Not to mention less expensive!) I am sure your daughter is getting what she needs from the foods she is eating, so I wouldn't worry about vitamins at this point, unless your pediatrician recommends it. I know you already responded, but I thought I would add my two cents. : ) Good luck, and take care.
