Hi S.,
I'm a navy wife. My husband is deploying shortly after the holidays. I have a 5 month old little boy. I definately rely on the support of my family during the long separations. Currently we are living in Portsmouth. So if that's close to you I'd love to meet. Take care and have a good holiday season.
S.,
I am the wife of a contractor over seas. We have 4 children total (two boys from my first marriage and two gilrs from his first marriage). He will not be home until sometime February. He was suppose to be home this month or early December but plans changed. Its hard sometimes. I hope you and your family had a happy thanksgiving.

Hey, Im a Coastie wife, mom to a 4yr old boy and full time college student, currently stationed in Charleston,SC but my inlaws live in Staunton, VA and we go there on a regular basis and I too will move in with them if hubby ends up being gone for long periods of time (we are scheduled to move again in 08). Your lucky to have family around though. This is my first place where I am away from mine (2o hours) and fairly far from his too (8 hours). If it werent for hubby being on loan, I would be totally alone here.
Anyhow I hope yall had a wonderful thanksgiving!
Hi S.!
Not sure where you're located and I still haven't figured out how "local" this board is. I'm in Mooresville, NC.
My husband was in the Active Navy for 9 years (got out in 2001) and is still in the Reserves. We didn't have kids at the time but I have been through 2 Iraq deployments, one as a girlfriend and one as a wife.
I can't even begin to imagine how tough this is with a child. Heck, the 2.5 year old we've got now drives me insane each day. No clue how I'd be able to survive what you're going through.
I understand that some days all you need is someone to help take your mind off the situation, share your fears, or listen to you complain. I also get that most of the time that person can't be a family member (don't want to scare them or upset them) or a co-worker who hasn't been there. Especially since you're living with his parents, I bet you spend a lot of time and effort trying to pretend that everything is going great and that you're not scared for him (and a little angry at him too).
If you're in my area, let me know and we can grab lunch or a drink.
