Microsuede? Love It or Leave It?

A little over a year ago we purchased a microfiber couch. We hate it. It looks stained and worn constantly. No matter how I try to clean it. It's just looks awful. So we started looking for a couch again. I was pretty insistent that we go back to regular ole upholstery. Well last night my DH fell in love with microsuede (microfiber that looks like suede leather). I am leary of the product because of our previous experience. We do have several family members that absolutely adore their mocrofiber...so we think our "deal" may have just been cheaply made. Any experiences good or bad with microsuede. We have two children under four and a large black dog. TIA!

What can I do next?

I pretty happy with mine, seems to clean up well, but spot do show up fairly quick. However in the winter it is so staticky (is that even a word). So about half the year I love it and the other half I hate. It does bring amusement with the Kid and dog when is full of static.

I love my microfiber! Have always had leather - and was getting tired of it - my kids don't like the coldness of it when they lie on it to watch t.v. - we still have leather in our living room - microfiber in the family room and a cordoruoy type fabric in the game room.

I HATE any other cloth - it stains, rips and is not durable!!

I do agree - it can cause static - but we have not had staining problems at all!!

My mom had it and hated it. When we purchased our furniture I needed something that could with stand the spills and dog hair. We went with leather I thought I would hate it. I took a few weeks to grow on me, but now I love it! It is so easy to clean I would highly recommend it. Just make sure to get quality leather so it will last.

Some furniture stores will treat the couch for an extra fee. It is well worth it and is usually guaranteed.

I have a microsuede recliner....no way would I have an entire suit of furniture made of the stuff....honestly, now that I have leather furniture , I will never buy unholstery of any type again....leather is just so easy to clean, don't have to worry about stains at all :-) My microsuede chair has been easy to upkeep because I had it scotchguarded upon purchase but it just wouldn't be my preference for all my livingroom furniture

We have 3 leather sets and love it.

2 are a mid-semi high end Natuzzi and 1 is a high end custom from Leather Sofa Company.

They are all SO easy to keep clean. I just wipe them down with a baby wipe. We have 3 dogs and a 14 yrs old. I have a house full of teens often and the leather is wonderful.

I would not buy anything but leather again.

We've got both a micofiber couch and chair. I was leary about it too, but quickly found that it's pretty durable and easy to clean. It's like a sage green color, so it does hide things pretty well, but over all I'm quite impressed. I have an 11 year old who still spills stuff like a small child and a 2 1/2 year old. This furniture has withstood both of them. We got ours from Bob Mills.

The biggest problem with microfiber or microsuede is that no matter what you do, there will be fibers going in different directions which give you nap distortion. This can look like a stain, but it's really just the way the light hits the fibers. Some people don't mind that, while others are driven up the wall with it. Sounds like you have one of each in your marriage!

I work for Fiber-Seal, and we have a protection product that is sprayed on after the purchase. You get a 12-month service contract, so if the dog drools on the sofa in a particular spot, or if the kids drop pizza on a cushion, we'll come out and clean the spot and reprotect it for free. Microfiber actually cleans up really well, if you can get past the nap distortion.

If you want to contact me with the specifics of the sofa, I can let you know our professional experience with it. My email is ____@____.com luck!
