In need of menu ideas for kid’s birthday party. Last year I ordered pizza and subs and it was a little more expensive than I had wanted but just had a new baby and was exhausted. This year I was thinking maybe hot dogs and the usual fixings? Maybe a few salads/ sides like potato salad, coleslaw and pasta salad and potato chips for the kids. I also wanted an alternative to hotdogs, possibly a small cold cut tray and buns for sandwiches? We will be at a local community center with access to outlets ect… but not a full kitchen.
I need of ideas/ suggestions that are cost effective, not too much work that both adults and kids will enjoy.

What can I do next?

I would say that pizza is your best bet and since your having it at a community center it would probably be much easier for you, plus I no that Pizza Hut is doing a deal where you can order any size pizza and as many toppings for $10.00, I think thats a wonderful deal. You can also do sloppy joes in the slow cooker and serve that as well and I no that all children love sloppy joes! As for appetizers you can do pigs in a blanket and I also have a woonderful recipe for taco dip and whenever I do a party for my kids thats the first thing to go! You can also do the subs and I recently noticed that Jewel has really lowered their prices on their deli lunch meats.. salsa and chips, potatoe chips, a veggie tray, I no that Costco also has a wonderful variety of dips that are reasonably priced, I buy the spinach and artichoke dip and its waay cheaper then buying the things needed to make it.. A cheese and cracker platter is always good too. You can do pickles and black olives on the side too! Check out Kraftfoods.com for more party ideas, they have a huge variety for things to make for a childs party...You can also do apples and caramel dip too! I hope this info helped you out and if you would like the recipe for my taco dip just let me no...

I went to a party that had a taco bar. It is cheap and every one enjoyed young and old. All you need to keep hot is the meat and people can make either tacos or salad.

One year I did chili. It is easy to make, you could keep it hot in a crock pot, and have toppings like cheese, sour cream, etc for anyone to add. Chips or bread on the side, bottles of water or soda, and you have a complete meal for your party guests.

This is what I usually do:
- Individual snack bags of chips. (You can get the lunch pack of like 30 bags for $7.
- juice boxes/12oz bottles of juice/water.
- sandwich platter
- condiments.

Your cheapest option is to schedule the party for a time when you do NOT need to serve a meal! I usually don't do a meal at my kids' parties, and I don't think it's expected. Make life easier on yourself and just do cake, and maybe a little snack.
