My two sons are on SSI disability and are supposed to get medicaid, but it has been a very long time since I put in an application for it since I've moved here and I have not gotten an answer. I need to know of an inexpensive medical insurance with RX coverage because my boys are on behavior medications and haven't had any since Oct 2006. boys father's will not provide coverage or my husband. My husband says "Why should he have to take care of another man's job?"

What can I do next?

R.,
First, your husband's insurance probably wouldn't cover your boys since I am assuming he has not adopted them. You need to reapply now for Medicaid. If you don't stay on them they will never get anything done. The thing though that worries me most is that it seems that your husband does not care about your boys from what you said about the insurance thing. I know it's none of my business but it just seems to be a tough situation for you to be in. I hope everything works out for you and be sure to stay on top of Medicaid. Good luck.

When my DH got laid off and was trying to start a new business, I started paying almost 100% of the household bills and that INCLUDED his child support. Yes, you should look into Medicaid, but at the same time, your husband should step up and provide for those boys too. It's called MARRIAGE. When you marry someone who has kids, you have to do it 110%, not only when it's convenient for you.

I would GLADLY add my step-daughter to my medical insurance if needed. It's called Doing What's Best for the Child, Not My Ego. Tell your husband to step up and be the better man instead of being just like the boys' father.

WHAT?!?! Hun, I don't even want to touch that one. You need a support system to help you through this. I would gladly be part of that system if you wish.

As for the Medicaid... Have you physically visited their office? Maybe that needs to be your next step. Google TX Medicaid then look for an office near you. Print out the application (have to look around for it) then TAKE it to your local office physically. There shouldn't be a delay of more than a few weeks (beginning of next month). However, it is my understanding that if you are on SSDI that you are AUTOMATICALLY elligible for medicaid after 2 years of disability. I do not know the exact circumstances of your case and your sons... but that might be some info to file away for your visit.
