So What Happened?

Thank you all for the great advice! I tried the ice, wrapped in a washcloth, but that didn't seem to help. I gave the little guy some Motrin, and he finally stopped crying about 10 minutes later. Hubby is picking up some Orajel, and I will be searching for everything else on the list as additional arsenal in the meanwhile. Wow, he'd been handling the teething so well until just a couple of days ago. Poor baby! Thanks, again, mamas!

Being breast fed, you may be bitten, if he's teething. Oraljel or something to rub on his teeth helps. Ice or something cold, even a washcloth.

We had someone recommend "teething tablets" and they are AMAZING. You just put them under their tongue and they dissolve almost immediately. You can find them at Walmart or Target or just about any pharmacy. You may have to ask at the pharmacy counter but they are an OTC item. Good luck.

If your baby has minimal trouble with teething, then the teething tablets and something to gnaw on will probably work. If your baby has a lot of trouble with teething, then the tablets will be ineffective. Motrin is good for babies that find the pain unbearable because it helps with the inflamation. Our pediatrition told us that every baby reacts differently to teething.

I like to use a liquid calcium for kids. I have a current teether right now and I'll rub it on his gums as well as give him a dose. Usually, kids can go through teething much easier when they aren't lacking in calcium. I haven't had a crying child yet while teething.

We have used Gentle Naturals from the start for teething.
http://www.gentlenaturals.com/
It's a homeopathic teething drops and it works better than anything else we've tried. Our pediatrician reccommend us to put whisky on his gums and that works too but the teething drops does just as well and it doesn't numb his entire mouth like oragel.

best of luck!

Baby Orajel topically. Motrin. Something cold to gnaw on. This, too, will pass!

I've use these homoepathic teething pellets by "Humphries" for both of my daughters and it works very well. I've only been able to find them at "walgreens" however. But it's a great an natural way of soothing teething pain. I also place a clean bathcloth in the freezer for a couple of minutes (depending on how hard or cold you want it to be) and let my little one knaw on that. Be careful that non of the little cloth particles are ingested.

When my son was teething,I bought a few soft children's toothbrushes, tipped them in cold water and placed them in the freezer. Once they're frozen let your little one knaw on one, this will help cut the gum from the outside with no additional pain. They work much better than those teething rings available in the stores. Good luck!!

My fav with my 11 was always Hylands teething tablets. This is homeopathic, disolves easily on the tongue, and can be found at Whole Foods...amoung other places. I would say this was efective 95% of the time for us. Before I deiscovered those we rubbed whisky on the gums and found that to be very effective as well(more so than any of the other things we tried from the stores. Sometime the old timey remedys can be the best but some people find that objectionable so....

Greetings Ana,

My favorite teething ally is homeopathic Chamomilla. I used Hyland's Chamomilla 30X and my baby was feeling great! I was great for me as well, during stressful times.

Rescue Remedy is also another great stress, trauma, need to calm down ally.

Peace

I just heard that giving them a frozen waffle to chew on helps and they really enjoy it too.

i will second the Hylands teething tablets. Kroger also sells them and most healthfood stores. I also used to use ice cubes. I would wrap one end to hold onto and let my son and daugher chew on the other end. this was for the front teeth mainly not the molars. good luck, hopefully it doesn't last too long.

Hi Ana,

Teething Tablets by Hylands helps. Available at Whole Foods and some health food stores. These homeopathy tablets melt under the tongue.

Frozen bagels (cut into four pieces, then freeze) brings instant relief and are not messy like the teething biscuits.

The above worked extremely well with our two sons (now 18 and 16). Hope it helps your baby.

Best wishes,

I. Chang

I just wanted to second what the others were saying about the teething tablets. I used Hyland's Teething Tablets. You can find them at Walgreen's but they cost less at Wal-mart. They used to have them in the vitamin section but I also saw them in the baby section where the teething rings are the other day. I have 2 children that I used them on. I would not have survived without it. It's a natural product - chamomille which will not hurt them it is just a natural relaxant/calmer. My son seemed worse at teething then my daughter and I actually gave him more tablets than the dosage recommendation and it did not hurt him. Good luck.

We have been using Hyland's teething tablets for years. They are all natural. They dissolve in the baby's mouth. They do not numb the throat like Oragel & other teething gels which can cause gagging & choking. Target pharmacy has them behind the counter.

I have used Hyland's teething tablets for my youngest baby. You can find them many places (Walgreens for sure). They seem to work fairly well.
