I need to meet parents to just form some kind of social network. I spend all day everyday, except when at work, with my son. all my friends are childless and tend to do things at the last minute which leaves me out because i have to find a sitter.

What can I do next?

Search yahoo groups. About 1.5 yrs ago, I was feeling the same way as you, and someone told me to check yahoo groups. I did a search for "michigan moms group," and then just looked through the results until I found a group for me! I joined 3 groups at first, but I am down to just one group now that I am very active in and have made some great friends! I would recommend our group to you, but pontiac is a little far from us (westland/garden city). Good luck!

Meetup.com also has moms groups. They are my saving grace! I belong to 3 groups in my area. Just do a search for your area.

The important thing is to be an active participant. Even if you can't attend alot of events, make sure you participate on the message board. You will feel like you are a part of something!

Have you thought about getting involved in a church that is kid-friendly? Also, you might call Ultimate Soccer near Opdyke and South, N of M-59. We go there to see my grandsons play indoor soccer, and they have a ton of activities there. They may have a preschool program. I know the Total Soccer domes have toddler indoor soccer in the winter, and you might meet parents that way. Games are usually on Saturdays. Your community parks/rec program may have something too. Being a single parent is probably the toughest role in the world! Good luck!

Hi there.
Why don't you join a mom's group or play group?
Is your son in day care. What about the mom's of the kids in his class. Ask for a playdate or something.
