Hi,

My daughter will be starting school this year. Can anyone give me some good suggestions for lunches that I can pack her. I can think of the obvious like sandwiches, yogurt, bagels, fruit/veggies, cheese/crackers. I am just looking for some different ideas so that she doesn't have to eat the same thing over and over. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

tyson's chicken nuggets plus mashed potatoes and veggies; weiner slices cooked with or without barbeque sauce with mac & cheese; turkey rollups (tortilla with turkey slices with cheese melted in microwave and rolled up). Chicken fettucine and other pasta dishes if they like them.

one thing to remember for I worked up at the school from time to time and saw this happen way to often. Parents so often thinks that teachers or somone could warm up food in a micowave for thier child. Please do not think this without talking to the teacher as most of the time teachers has thier off period during this time, and there are way to many kids to warm everyone's lunch or whatever in the micowave.

For my gd's they like for me to do is to fix a deli tray for them. I get severa kinds of lunch meat and cut them into 1/4's and mix the meats together with cheese and crackers

fruit is always good to have in a lunch

weirners, vinessa saugages, boiled eggs, deviled eggs, egg sandwich,
even peanut butter sandwishes are good for them,

My middle daughter is not big on "sammies" but she loves it when I roll up meat and cheeze together for her. I usually make 2 or 3 ham and cheeze roll ups at a time. I felt bad at first not giving her bread but then I saw a bunch of kids had the same thing when I had lunch there. She also likes torts with spreadable garlic & herb cheeze and ham rolled up. On occasion thin crust pizza has been a treat for all my girls to enjoy at school!

I bought a thermos too (not a character one, doesn't work as good) and would boil her chicken noodle soup and then pour it into the thermos. it was still warm enough for her to eat it a few hours later.

I did notice on Kraft Foods web site that they had quite a few suggestions for lunches for kids. Something like pasta salad and/or salad in a ziploc then pack the add-ins separate and then she can put them all together and shake the bag and eat it right out of the bag.

I bought a really nice Thermos (sometimes the character ones do not last long). My daughter loves to take noodles and marinara, soup, etc. She is not crazy about sandwiches and this worked out well for us.

If she does not take the Thermos, I pack a variety of healthy snacks for her. She loves veggies and ranch dip, fruits, and triscuits.

I use to do wraps with the variety of tortillas. I also used pita breads. I would use the larger sized cookie cutters and cut out the sandwich breads they loved that too.
Cold pizza. Cheese and crackers. You coulds b 'bque the night before and serve like chicken or hotdogs. Kids like stuff cold too.
I use to freeze go gerts and they loved them and I also froze their juice boxes and took them out early in the morning. You need to put into a baggie so it does not get everything wet.
Hope this helps

Try tortillia wraps. You can put anything in them from sandwich fillings like lettuce, tomatos, cheese and her favorite meat to peanut butter and jelly. Just roll em up. Lots of fun to eat, I know my kids really enjoy them still and they are now in jr. high and high school.

I was thinking the same thing. I just saw a little thermos in the Target ad(or was it Wal-Mart?). I think there was a Hello Kitty one and Lightening McQueen. Since the kids can't heat their food up, cold lunch seems the only option. But maybe this little thermos would keep pasta/spaghetti warm? Other things that kids eat warm or cold - mac n cheese and pizza.
