I recently tried "osteo-manipulation" for my back pain & the dr. suggested I also do "reflexology" on my feet. Ive had a LOT of pain in my lower back, stiff feet & pain in knees. (i think its all from my pregnancy bed rest). My body is all messed up. I also have what feels like huge knots in my lower back, but i think they are Fatty Tissue or Tumor?? Anybody know anything about this type of stuff or treatment??

Hi NinenineG,

They say 90% of pain comes from dehydration. The water we are drinking today is not absorbing in our cells. Alkaline water is the best to drink.

Another reason for pain is the muscles are to tight. I have found that magnetic therapy does wonders for muscles that are tight. I had a bad back for 5 years. Went to Chiropractors, acupuncture, physical therapy, holistic and massage therapy. Once I started sleeping and wearing magnets on my back I had no more problems.

If you want more info let me know and I will share.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I would try yoga and/or pilates or both. After a year of yoga my back pain (20years long) is gone. The Yoga and pilates work to strengthen your core body first - which I would bet has suffered immensley from bed rest. Not only can it help your muscle tone and alignment, but it gives you an hour to yourself, to take care and focus yourself which probably hasn't really happened since you started bed rest. Be sure to try a few different teachers and feel comfortable speaking with them about why you are there. Namaste.

The pain in your lower back could be a lot of things. First, you must drink at least half of your body weight in water (not juice or soda) each day. Secondly, reflexology would be good because it will help release some of the tension you have in your body. And, I would go get a pregnancy massage. Make sure it is with some experienced in pregnancy massage because if not, they could actually throw you into labor! Also, you might want to get this oil, it's called 'white flower' and you have to get it at an Asian market. It will open up the blood vessels in the area you apply it to and increase the blood flow, helping to take the swelling and pain away.
Good luck, and hang in there.

I watched a 60 Minutes type show on back pain once, (don't remember what), and people with chronic severe back pain went to a certain clinic. The upshot was that the best and usually only solution for these people's pain was intense exercises, focusing on building up the muscles to support their backs. The message of the show was that exercise was, in most cases, the ONLY thing that worked. People who were practically crippled by back pain were cured by their techniques.

The fact that your pain seems to be the result of all the bed-rest would seem to support that contention. I suggest something like Pilates, which focuses on core strength.

Hello Ninenine G, Please let me tell you that if it were a tumor that your doctors that you have been seeing would have checked it out and told you. So don't borrow trouble.
I have 5 children and have been on bedrest for 3 of the pregnancies. I was so bored that I actualy had my older children once move my bed into another room after they got home from school so I could see the celing in that room instead of the one I'd been in. After that my husband made sure to move me into another room once a month for the month so I got a different view and didn't feel stir crazy.
I tell you this as you may be experiancing some of the same things. Just remind yourself that your baby is worth all this and his/her life is worth a little discomfort now. (The real discomfort can come when they are teens) smile** The knots are like any muscel or tendon that tightens up it will do so in a spot and then often change spots. You may even feel a hard knot just before a cramp in your calf happens-- just stretch it out and keep changing positions. My husband used to laugh at the way I looked because of all the pillows and blankets I had stuffed around me so that I could be comfortable in a changed position.
Parenthood is worth all of this and so much more. I have no idea how you are able to sit and use a computer- so you are ahead of the game on me. Good Luck, Nana Glenda

Try accupuncture. It really works wonders. The pressure and swelling might be Latic acid pooling in the area and massaging it deeply can help move it around and relieve the pain.

Hi,
I have done both chiropractic and oste manipulation. The other thing that really helps is stretching, and lots of it.
You may have some muscle spasms in your lower back. I know when I have been in bed sick my back gets all knotted up and sore. When we had our second child I was on bed rest only for 3 months, the last of which was in the hospital for 4 weeks. I remember feeling a lot like you do now when I finally delivered and was allowed to move around at will.
It will get better, it just takes time.

Ninenine G,

You requested information regarding back pain so I am sharing some with you about that particular health issue.

More than two years have passed when I developed an interest in reading articles and researched papers written and collected by credible physicians and consumer-health advocates regarding health. What I read made sense to me so I pass it on for others to benefit from the knowledge.

They explained that when our body does not get enough calcium from the food we eat, it draws what it needs from the bones giving the chance for the toxins, specifically the heavy metal lead, to replace what has been taken away. With the heavy metals and toxins in place instead of the needed elements, the bones become brittle and weak and joints ache. The modern medicine's solution usually is to remove the bones and replace them with metal parts. What the articles suggest is to remove the lead and the toxins that cause the weakening of the bones and replace the necessary vitamins, calcium, and minerals that the body needs. One writer even said that removing body part--or in most cases, patching up the symptoms--does not resolve the health issue if the cause of the symptom is still there. Dr. John H. Tilden also explained in his book that the only disease is toxemia which is toxin overload. Cancer and other degenerative health issues, according to him, are therefore symptoms that tell us that our body is dis-eased.

I was asked a few times not to mention the detoxifying agent that is 100% natural, safe, and science-based and carries the FDA's GRAS (generally recognized as safe) designation. That detoxifying agent gave me the idea to start taking charge of my health and not become a guinea pig for the billion-dollar health business. I am using that detoxifying agent for over two years now and the health benefits that it gives are just amazing. I used to have lower back problem many years ago. I was in so much pain that I thought I would not be able to move again. My honest chiropractor, the detoxifying agent and the natural supplements, and God's healing power worked together--now I can lift up to 50 lbs. as I work in the garden and run carrying a 30-lb. load, at 62. The healing experience with the treatments that I had could be different from yours but the point is that natural healing happened.

I hope you will find the proper solution to your health problem and that of your mom's, as well.

MSM is suppose to be a wonder drug for pain- the problem- you have to take a huge amount of it.

You can make castor oil packs by soaking a 4 inch square peice of flannel with castor oil, setting it on the painful area, and putting a heat pad in it for a 1/2 hour. That works for my DD. We put it in a ziploc when we are done. Taking magnesium baths (soaking in epsom salts) 3 x a week helps(if you cant make it into a bath, soak your feet.)

Bacterial infections, adrenal exaughstion, thyroid imbalance, dehydration, lyme disease(bacterial infection), can all cause joint pain. So can Hypercalcemia. Hypercalcemia is too much calcium in the body- abnormal calcium metabolism deposits calcium in the soft tissue and joints.Calcium deficiency also causes arthritis. Excess estrogen, floride, sugar, and not enough magnesium can cause it.

I have a daughter with pain in the same locations, but she has never been on bed rest. She had chronic uti's/kidney infection when she was little, and had 3 years on antibiotics on and off. This could have caused bacteria to seep into her tissues.Possibly her kidneys still have infection in them. Or, the other thing that is a flag is that she was raised on soy formula, which disrupts the endocrine system. It causes adrenal problems and hyperthyroid. She does have all the other symptoms that her thyroid is not functioning properly. Cold hands and feet, depression, insomnia, short breath sometimes, fainting, tired, and of course the joint pain. The other thing I came across that causes joint pain is dairy and wheat. a gluten free diet is said to do wonders for arthritic patients.

Try to increase your magnesium, use it orally and also put MG oil on the skin. without magnesium the calcium can't go into the bone. People talk about CA being the culprit for osteoporosis when it is actually not a lack of calcium at all, but the uptake of it. Putting magnesium oil on a painful location is said to stop pain as well- havent tried it yet.

I have read that natural progesterone in vitamin E oil can cure osteoarthritis. Progesterone opposes extra estrogen, and helps keep you from getting hyperthyroidism.
