If you are only 21 days from delivering, you could deliver at any time and be fine I would think. My son was born 10 days before my due date and my daughter was 14 days before hers. They are both healthy, beautiful and smart! Good luck!

Yep our daughter was born 3 weeks early and I had low amniotic fluid. My water broke, I was in labor for over 12 hours and then they decided to add water back inside me to help the baby.. (Her heart rate was slowing).. but she was just fine.

At first they thought I might need a c section to help her, but once they added fluids she was just fine.

I had low fluid in my last trimester. The first notice the baby quit moving and I went to the ER and I had to drink a pitcher of ice water. She moved right away and I was released.

After that, it kept showing up in my ultra sounds and I had been drinking a lot of water. The tech said it didn't make sense for the amount of water I had been drinking and didn't have any leaks. It turns out, I was trying to keep my weight down and had been walking every day, which was burning off the water. I was also still working my full 40 hours. I had to quit walking, which didn't help entirely and they induced my labor the day she was due. I was told if I didn't slow down, I would have to go on bed rest. I was already in labor, but they still induced to move it along a little faster.

It happens all of the time. Once a baby is in the last few weeks, there isn't much fluid left in there.

If you are seriously low and it's before 37 weeks, they will tell you to hydrate and will keep checking. If the baby is in stress, they will get her out.

Try not to worry and keep on drinking.

when I went in for the 39-week checkup, my fundal height had dropped from 39 to 35 cm (which happens at the end of pregnancies, but that was enough to warrant an u/s). they did the ultrasound, and my fluid was pretty low... so they induced starting that night. I had my daughter the next day, and other than a really bad nurse who told me I was "not in enough pain" for my daughter to be pushing (she was wrong--my daughter pretty much flew out of there, haha, not to mention the epidural, duh), it was a great birthing experience. since then, however, I have seen several mentions of how low fluid isn't *generally* a reason to be induced. (but i'll say I don't regret it at all; it was a very easy delivery for me)

how far along are you? When they thought I had low fluid I had to go in for a higher level ultrasound so they could see better. Is that a possibility?

Rest, keep hydrated, and cross your fingers. Ask the doctor if the baby might need medicine to help the baby's lungs mature before birthing him or her. That's the main reason they don't like to deliver a baby early.

The rest of my answer is from your other posts about false labor versus actual labor. Braxton Hicks contractions are normal and help your uterus get ready for actual labor. Usually they will stop if you hydrate and lay down. Time the contractions and see if they get to be only 5 minutes apart. Then you probably aren't having Braxton Hicks contractions, at least not anymore.

Good luck!!
