I had long hair with my last child, too. Best thing to do is keep a lint roller handy. I will never understand why it would get caught in the armpits of my shirts more than anywhere else, LOL, but it did.
Hi ladies, I need help!!! I know hair loss after having a baby is normal and there is no way of stopping it. With my first daughter my hair was chin length so it didn't bother me as much. Now my hair is to the middle of my back and it is falling out everywhere. I feel like I have spider webs all over me constantly but it's just strands of hair. It's on the floor, in my food , in the sink and even in my babies diaper. Is there anything besides shaving my head that I could do to speed up the process. Any tips will be much appreciated not just by me but by my whole family.
Thanks for all your help, when I had my first daughter I didn't notice it being this bad but my hair was very short. I am breastfeeding and my skin just started breaking out so I know it's gotta be hormones. Thanks for the tips and the congrats on my new baby!! :0)

Ah, hormones :) And are you nursing? Because I went through the whole thing again almost 2 years after birth, when we wound down nursing. Try a Biotin supplement, excellent for hair and nail growth. I take a 5000mg supplement. It helps!
funny you should post this... I was just going to talk about this with my Primary today!! Next week my son will be 3 months old and I've been noticing my hair on everyone and everything - yet I still have lots of hair on my head. My hair is really short (5 inches) and VERY red... so I know it's mine that is all over the place.
I never considered it being post pregnancy related!
same problem here. I just got it cut above my shoulders and love it! Haven't even noticed a prob since.
Still losing hair at 27 months Post partum. I have noticed that the hair loss is less when I get it trimmed regularly.
my hair fell out with all my babies. started at about 2.5 to 3 months and continued to about 4 months. it was scary - it was like I was having chemo treatment - it was falling out all over the place. Then it just stopped and my hair was curly!! All the changes our bodies go through!!
if you are getting bald spots, talk to your doctor. but losing it is normal!
good luck! Congrats on the baby!!
I am at 18 months Post Partum and still losing it, but have seen new growth so that is encouraging. I also had hair to the middle of my back and my hair dresser talked me into getting it cut just above my shoulders and she said it would help because there is less pulling on the hair.
It took me awhile to get used to the new cut, but I can already tell a difference. Much less hair is coming out and I think my husband is relieved not to find my hair everywhere.
My hair fell out terribly postpartum with my second baby, it was terrible.. I have pretty thin hair to begin with so losing all that hair was extra scary.. I dont think there is anythign really that can help speed up the process.. The only thing I can suggest is go and get a good hair cut with a shorter do.. Try to keep your hair now in a pony tail so that maybe it doesnt fall out everywhere?? Otherwise just have to let it do what it does and know it will stop eventually.. just a pain in the mean time.. I do know there are products like Nioxin shampoos that help the scalp but I really dont think that helps with postpartum because the cause of the hair loss is a purely hormonal thing.. If it gets to the point where it is scary to look at because you can see your scalp there is a product called Xfusion which is just a powder that you sprinkle on your scalp to help your hair look fuller, it only lasts until you wash your hair but it's a nice confidence builder if you are getting self conscious about the hair loss..
Welcome to the club. Wear creative hats for the next six months. It does regrow. You won't lose it permanently until long after menopause when it thins and the only thing that helps is hair extenders or reweaving.
I lost a good amount of hair postpartum as well. Of course I didn't know this at the time, but I have since learned that nettles are wonderful for hair growth and strength. They have nettles tea, but if you can get ahold of some dry, it might be even better to steep the herbs and make an infusion.
I wonder what your vitamin A, Bs, C, D, and E, and your mineral levels are like. And how much protein you get. All needed for healthy skin and hair and hormone balance.
This has happened to me with all 3 kids. I had bald spots when my baby was 3 months. She is now 5 months and its growing back, thank goodness! I dont think there really is anything you can do about. Some hair loss everyday is normal, especially if you wear your hair up, and then take it down. All the hair that would have normally fallen out all day, is stuck in a ponytail. Thats my problem anyways. When you are pregnant you dont lose much hair, thats why they say your hair gets thicker when your pregnant. It doesnt actually get thicker, it just doesnt fall out. Its all normal. In a couple months you will probably notice it falling out less and less. Good luck! Welcome to the balding club! :)
