In water aerobics you are not too deep...my dad has the hip issue and bought a stationary bike and that seems to loosen it up.
Ladies... I have a question ( I'm African American so my family has big rumps) but I don't want to gain a lot I have had 3 kids went right back to my 0-3 dress size baby #4 but the butt on me from he'll I can't fit anything ( so upset) he 5 months now I'm trying to do excersice but I have a hip bursitis on the left side and my right side is going bad cuz I have to compinsate the pressure I really try to do those excerise dvd's but it hurts sooo much and I had a cyst taken out my wrist so now my left wrist has little to no use out of it ( I so want to loose my belly fat as well as so of this butt) I do t want to buy anymore clothes but I'm afraid it's not going to go away HELP ladies I need to loose this and still be able to walk( my husband loves it by the way but he don't have to carry it around)
Only problem is I don't know how to swim ( and too scared for my husband to teach me)

You can still do water aerobics if you can't swim. You will be able to touch and walk in the water. This might be good for your hip. Also could you get a used elliptical machine. Those tend to be low impact.
eating right is 80% of weight loss. if you curb your eating to compensate for not being able to work out, you should still lose weight. try eating more clean, healthy foods. have you tried swimming? that might not be so weight bearing on your bursitis? good luck.
Well the first thing is get to a dr for some cortisone in that hip girl! I have the bursitis issue as well, it hurts! Some exercise can make it hurt worse and freeze up on you, so take care. I think just some walking or getting on the treadmill would be good, or swimming would be perfect if you have pool access. After you address the hip, you will be able to excercise more effectively! In the meantime, rest and ice will help the bursitis a lot. Until the swelling goes down it will hurt alot. I actually had myself yelping in pain and unable to walk trying to exercise my hip, but I didn't know that I had bursitis at that time. As far as the booty, squats and lunges are the best, but a big no no until your hip is better. Hang in there and take care!!
I've had hip burstitis as well. It's awful! It happened when my youngest was a baby too. I ended up going to a chiropractor 1x and she taught me how to stretch it out. I did that on my own (everyday) and it eventually went away.
I would say walking is your best bet. If you have some of those butt firming walking shoes (I don't but I wish I did) go walking in those sometimes. Try to walk up hill as much as possible and push yourself hard. No sweet strolls. Try incorporating some running too. If you can only run for 1 minute, do it. Then walk for 5, then run for 1 and so on. Overtime you will be able to run more and more. Then do some 5K's and maybe train for the Cap 10K in Austin (spring time). I hate to run but I did this after my baby was born. I got into great shape and loved the changes in my body. It's also such a great feeling when you run a race and are around so many people. It's empowering.
Go to an orthopedist (or your GP) and have them refer you to physical therapy for your hip. I, too have bursitis in my hip and the pain can be excruciating. It was significantly better after PT! I highly recommend it.
Walking really is the best exercise. Invest in some good walking shoes. Go to a real shoe store- not the shoe department in a store, and get fitted for a good pair of shoes and plop that baby into the stroller and go! Don't stroll, either! Get huffing and puffing! Run some stairs that you see along the route of your walk to get those gluteus muscles working.
I am trying to do the same thing and my "baby" is 7!

It sounds like you need to let your body heal first. I am not sure what amount of weight that your talking about. If its fifty or more then its going to take some time to come off. If you talking about fifteen lbs it might be helpful to cut out junk food and eat healthy. Eating foods in there natural state. Example eat tomato not ketchup or eat blue berries not blue berry pancakes. If you cannot find it growing (besides meat) then dont eat it for a couple months and see if you feel healthier and slimer.
Is there someone you can walk with daily? I had a neighbor that wanted to walk every day. We started when we were both pregnant and kept it up everyday until we each had two kids and moved away from each other. Maybe you can go for a walk with the baby when your husband comes home to watch the other 2. Pushing the stroller is added resistance. If you don't have someone to walk with, then tell your husband you need him to "push" you out the door everyday. Men love to have a specific job.
Also, get rid of all the junk food in the house. Everyone in your house can learn to love veggies for snacks and fresh fruit for dessert. It is all in how you present it. Smoothies are a fun treat when kids can pick what goes in theirs. Homemade frozen 100% fruit juice popsicles are very tasty on a hot summer day. Greek yogurt can be made to look like pudding when put in a different dish. You get the idea.
I have had bursitis and a host of other problems with my hip. YOu do not have to "Swim" in order to get in the water. Do laps around the pool with the water up to your chest. This is resistance. Stay in the 3-4 foot end of the pool. Use a pool noodle for flotation in case you step off of the edge. Hold the side of the pool, float upwards and kick for 10 minutes. Softly. Bikes are great. cb
When my hip bursitis flares, I get on the elliptical and it helps alot. If you are familiar with foam rollers, sitting on that with all you weight on that hip also helps.
Water aerobics is a good idea too.
But what you eat can be a big factor. Make sure to get plenty of fruits and vegetables.
