Looking to Find Good Hospital to Give Birth In

I'm going to have my baby in May, and my doctor has me set for Norwegian American Hospital, I'm not happy with this hospital as I have delivered at Lincoln Park Hospital with my first daughter and had a great experience there. Do any of you have any experience or know anyone who has delivered at Norwegian? Or do you have any any thought on any of the hospitals around that area?

What can I do next?

Hi P.,

I also had my baby at Lincoln Park, and I wouldn't
recommend anywhere else, it was all that I expected
a hospital should be. My Dr. was Dr.Munoz, she was really great
and the staff and nurses were super friendly and ready to please.

Good Luck and Congratulations on your upcoming birth!

Are you willing to change doctors? If you're looking for a low-intervention birth (either with a doc or with midwives) I've heard that West Suburban in Oak Park (alternative birthing center) is great, as is Illinois Masonic - which is closer to your neighborhood. I've also heard good things about Sweedish Covenant. Also, it may not be glamorous, but I know the midwives at UIC do a great job too.

Hi P.

I delivered at Norwegian with Dr Robottom. SHe is a GREAT doctor, but the hospital is horrible. I had to share a bathroom, it is dirty and dingy, and the staff is very discourteous. I would never recommend delivering a baby there is you have a choice.

Can you switch caregivers so you can go back to Lincoln Park Hospital or elsewhere?

My Mom gave birth to my sister there; 23 years ago!! I haven't been to that hospital to have my kids but I was there for other things, didn't like it.

I'm not sure of where in the area you live but if you were happy with the hospital where you delivered your first, I would go back there. Good luck.

Hi P.; My name is K.. I was a high risk mom when I was pregnant with my son so I wanted a hospital that had a great Children's hospital . I choose Rush Pres to have my son that way if there were any complications the doctors at Rush would be able to deal wih anything. My son was born without a hitch and I loved the hospital and the staff. Although the nurses really push breast feeding and I was little enept when it came to breast feeding. Congratulations on your upcoming birth.
