Dr. Urrea will work with you on an alternative schedule. HOWEVER - I would not recommend her as a pediatrician as her lack of willingness to be bothered after hours almost killed my son. Had I not been persistent and gone to a friend's pediatrician, he would have died from internal bleeding. He had black stools and I asked her if I should go to the ER and she made me feel ridiculous and told me that "you don't go to the ER for a poopy diaper". Apparently, even 1st year residents know that black stools means blood is present. He had Meckel's diverticulum which caused a hole in the lining of his intestine. Had I not gone to the other pediatrician, he would have died. All because I bothered her after hours. I even called her, wrote her a letter to let her know and she never responded. Everyone can make mistakes(and this was an elementary one!). I was upset because she made me feel bad for being concerned, didn't trust a mother's intuition, and that she couldn't be bothered to handle a call 1 hour after she had closed her office on a Friday. Definitely NOT someone I would recommend.
We still go to the pediatrician that saved my son's life by taking time for him, using her entire lunch hour to take care of him, even though she didn't know us. She even got us a contact so we could go straight to the hospital floor, not through the ER. By the time the weekend had passed (it took me all weekend to shake what Dr. Urrea had told me), he was dangerously anemic and had to have transfusions and surgery the next day. She saved his life. Her name is Dr. Angelyn Tarrant and even though she's all the way down off Bee Caves Rd. and we live in Cedar Park, I won't go anywhere else. She worked with us on an alternative schedule as well. Many will. Best of luck finding someone close!
