I am looking for a super simple and delicious cookie cake recipe (sugar or choc chip) that can be made either in a 13 x 9 or on a bar style cookie sheet/pan. Also, if anyone has a whipped style frosting recipe that is like the stores use that would be helpful as well. I need it for my son's party this weekend. Thanks a bunch!

So What Happened?

Hi Everyone. First off, THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND RECIPES! WOW! I love this site! Anyway, I decided to use the homemade toll house cookie recipe off the back of the choc chips bag per one of the suggestions. I placed a wax piece of paper over the top and rolled it more uniformed also. It came out great! I probably should have shortened my baking time by a couple of minutes though. I will do that next time. It was easy though. Then I frosted with whipped frosting. Everyone seemed to like it. I also, just to try, made a 13x9 cookie cake out of the funfetti cake mix then iced with butter cream. That was FANTASTIC! It came out perfect! I can't wait to make a cookie sheet size of that one sometime. I might do that for Easter actually! Anyway, my son had a great party!!! He deserved it as he had been in the hospital multiple times this year so it was a nice kickoff to spring and a good bye to the winter germs and blahs! :) Thanks again all of you who posted! It takes time to do that. Thank you!

I've always used the recipe on the bag of Toll House Chocolate Chip morsels. At the bottom of the recipe it explains how to make the chocolate chip cookies into bars, only I usually bake it about five minutes less than the recipe says because it gets so hard around the edges if I bake it longer. Just made them for my husband for his birthday this past week, they turned out great. And here is my grandma's recipe for whipped icing. She uses it to make cream filled cupcakes. It is great squeezed into chocolate cupcakes, but works good as cake icing too. Hope this helps!

5 Tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
Cook this mixture over low heat until very thick, stirring constantly. Let this mixture cool, then add:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup shortening (like Crisco)
1 tsp. vanilla
Beat with mixer until smooth.
Add any color food coloring for different colored icings.

I like to add a box of pudding mix, extra milk (1/2C), and an extra egg to cookie recipes. I usually go by the package recipe, then do my add-ins, and I get very yummy cookies. I almost always make bar cookies this way, and they are nice and thick and chewy, not dry.
You can also add pudding mix to a container of cool whip to get flavored whipped cream, which makes a nice frosting. Just sprinkle it in until you get the consistency you want. (It won't take a full box.)

Roxana-

Here is a recipe I found that looks quick and easy for Frosted Cake Brownies.
1 pkg fudge brownie mix (13 x 9" pan size)
1 cup (8 oz) sour cream
1 cup milk choc chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup milk chocolate frosting

prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Four in sour cream, choc chips and walnuts into batter. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan.

Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack. Frost. Cut into bars.

Roxana, this is obviously not what you asked for but have you tried going to Tasteofhome.com on the Internet? I go there all the time and all you have to do is type in either a few ingredients or the name of what you want, like choc chip bars or sugar cookie bars and you will be surprised at how many recipes come up and how quick and easy they are. I love this particular web site because it is a very practical and budget friendly site and most recipes on there are quick to make. You could also type in homemade whipped topping and see what came up. They have two categories for recipes, the tasteofhome category or the community category. I generally stick to the tasteofhome recipes because there are fewer there and easy to read through and also because I feel if they post them as their own, they have already been tried and successful. Good luck!

I use the bar recipe on the back of Nestle Choc. chips for a cookie cake. It comes out just perfect for that. I usually ice and decorate the top too. Just an FYI, you can purchase small containers of your local store's bakery icing if you ask. I do that when I am in a crunch.;-)

I've used the Toll House premade cookie dough and just squished it in the pan. It came out pretty good. But I had better luck using the Toll House Cookie Recipe on the back of the choc. chips. I doubled the recipe to give more of a thicker cookie. Just pat it down in your pan.

I would use Butter Cream frosting recipe. Simple to make:

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 cups Confectioners' sugar, sifted
3 to 4 tablespoons Milk
1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract

Preparation
Place butter in a large mixing bowl. Blend with electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, 30 seconds. Stop the machine and add confectioners' sugar, 3 tablespoons milk and vanilla extract. Blend on low speed until sugar is incorporated, 1 minute. Increase speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, 1 minute more. Add up to 1 tablespoon more milk if frosting seems too stiff.

We use our standard chocolate chip cookie recipe, but it has a package of pudding, so it comes out just like the store cookie cakes.

Chocolate chip cookie cake

Mix together:
2 sticks of softened butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs

In another bowl combine 2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 box instant vanilla pudding mix (dry)

Add the dry mixture to the wet and stir well. Add 1 regular bag of semi sweet chocolate chips and stir. Spread onto a large cookie sheet with sides, filling it 3/4 for thick cookies, or all the way for thinner cookies.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes, depending on how thick you've spread the dough. My kids like thick bar style cookies, so we usually fill a large cookie sheet 3/4 full. Putting it in a 9x13 would probably work, but it may a have to bake longer. The cookie sheet has always worked pretty well. When we can smell the cookies, they're usually done:)

My kids love this recipe, and always request it for birthday. Sorry I can't help you with the icing. Hope your son's party goes well.

Roxanna, we have used the Funfetti Cake Mix (I think its Pillsbury). The cookie recipe is on the back or on the side of the box. If I recall, you are only adding 1 or 2 other ingredients and they turn out super moist. We've made them several times and everyone loves them. We just use the funetti frosting for the top.

I think no-bakes are the easiest. I don't have a recipe, but if you google no-bake cookies you'll get tons of them. They are great and kids/adults always love them. Unless you really want to bake from scratch, I would just go down the baking isle at the grocery store and get a box/bag of cookie mix. Good luck!

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES (MY OVEN BAKES UNEVEN SO I USE 325)

1C. MELTED & COOLED MARGARINE
1 LARGE EGG
2 TEASPOON VANILLA
11/2 C. PACKED BROWN SUGAR
2 C. FLOUR
1 T. BAKING SODA
1 BAG CHOC. CHIPS

MIX FIRST FOUR INGREDIENTS TOGETHER & MIX WELL.MIX THE FLOUR & BAKING SODA IN MIXING WELL, BUT NOT OVERDOING IT. ADD CHOCOLATE CHIPS. SPREAD ONTO 11x15 BAR PAN AND BAKE FOR 25-30 MINUTES. BARS ARE SOFT & CHEWY!
*CAN BE MADE IN A 9*13 BUT THE BARS WILL BE ALOT THICKER & COOK TIME WILL NEED ADJUSTED.*

I'VE MADE THEM BOTH WAYS & MY BOYS PREFER THE 11*15 PAN.

ALSO, YOU CAN SAVE SOME CHIPS OUT OR USE ANOTHER BAG & MELT THEM IN THE MICROWAVE, THEN USING A DECORATOR'S SET (OR YOU CAN PUT IT IN A ZIPLOC & SNIP THE END OFF) YOU CAN DECORATE THE EDGE & WRITE ON THE COOKIE!

Hi Roxannna,

My mom used to make "pan cookies" a lot when I was a kid. All she did was make the recipe on the bag of Toll House chocolate chips, spread it into a greased 9x13 pan, and bake it (I'm pretty sure the recipe is still printed on the bag). You can add sprinkles, frosting, etc. on the top as well (we always ate them plain). Yummy and easy!

Hope this helps -- and happy birthday to your son! :)

I just buy Tollhouse premade refrigerated dough in a tub and press it into a foil-lined pan. Then I put wax paper over the top and use a small (pizza) rolling pin to smooth it flat. (or just press it down) Take off the wax paper and bake (directions on tub). It tastes just like homemade dough-kids love it! When it's cooled, you can remove the whole thing with the sides of the foil - turn over and remove foil and put the giant cookie on a cardboard or platter and decorate.
I've used a 13 x 9 pan and also a deep dish pizza pan. Both turned out great.
Good luck!

I know the premade cookie dough you find in the grocery store has directions on how to make a cookie cake instead of individual cookies. I always buy the premade frosting too. Also, I did a Google search for "Cookie Cake Recipe" and came up with quite a few recipes... you might want to check that out.

This is the recipe that my grandmother used to use when she had lots of cookies to make.

Start with a box of your favorite cake mix (Store brands work fine), add 1/2 C Veg. Oil and 2 eggs. Mix well. You can add any extras that you want (Choc. Chips, nuts, etc.) Drop by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet and bake @ 30 for 8-10 minutes. The cookies taste great and you would never know that they came from a cake mix.

I have also spread the mixture into a cake pan and had it turn out great. Bake at the same temperature for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness after about 15 minutes. When a toothpick/knife stuck in the center comes out clean, it is done. I don't know exactly how long I baked it for but it wasn't any longer than a regular cake and it turned out great.

OOOOO I have one for you!! It is so easy and yummy. 1 box cake mix any kind, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup oil. Mix together and I make cookies, but I bet you can put it in a pan too. We wrap the cookies individually in saran wrap and the kids followed my daughter around wanting more and when was she bringing those again! I like choc cake mix. Or funfetti is pretty. You can add food coloring to white and make it any holiday color. Add your own sprinkles or choc chips. I always get dollar general duncan hines ($.97) box. You could ice them but too messy and they are good without the frosting! J.
