Looking for OB Who Offers VBAC

Hi! We recently moved to San Antonio and I'm fast expecting my second child in the fall. I had an unplanned c-section with my first delivery and A. trying to find an OB who will give me the option of a VBAC with this pregnancy. I met with an OB who was super-nice- but was disappointed when he told me that his office has a policy against VBACs and that I may not find a doctor in San Antonio who will offer this option. I'd appreciate any feedback/advice.. I want to do what is safest for myself and the baby- and also believe that as women we should have a choice when it comes to delivering our babies! Thanks in advance!

Hi Alda
If you aren't opposed to midwives, I suggest Lone Star OB/GYN. There are 3 midwives there who are open minded about VBACs and even worked hard to help me try and avoid a C-section myself. (I had a breach baby.) Jan, Lois, and Gloria are fabulous. You can schedule and appointment with them (at no charge) to discuss your concerns and kind of interview them. Plus, if there are troubles during the delivery, they are affiliated with a group of Dr OB/GYNs and so there is always that for a back up. All I know, is I wasn't the easiest of patients because I A. very opinionated and it didn't phase them at all. I think for every check up we had, we must have spent 30 - 45 minutes just answering questions that I had and stuff like that. Their number is ###-###-####.

As long as you have your medical records or can get them from the first section it shouldnt be a problem to have a VBAC alot of drs are scared to do it if they are unsure of which way your uterus is cut the first time because with my first I had an emergency section and even though i have a nice bikini cut on the uterus i A. cut up and down SOOOO she said i didnt have that option BUT if you had a horizontal cut on your uterus then it should be an issue... I see Dr VanWingerdan at Riverwalk OBG shes great shes not from here so she is a little more open minded about other options than some of the other drs that I have seen. She delivered my daughter 2 yrs ago and will be delivering our new bundle in Feb. :)

Your best bet is to see the Certified Nurse Midwives at Lone Star OBGYN. They are a group of three women who will support you having a VBAC. I A. a childbirth teacher and doula and I have had many students and clients have successful VBACS with this group. You can find out more about them by visiting their ____@____.com Make an appt. to interview them since it is free to do so and talk with them about your goals and then make a decision. I wholeheartedly endorse this group.

I would recommend Seven Oaks Women Center - you can contact them at ###-###-#### or you can visit their website at www.sevenoakswomens.com . All the doctors in this group believe in VBAC, I was given this option after my first C Section, my doctor is Dr. Harden. I hope this helps.

I would reccomend my doctor Dr Jose A Trevinio. He is located downtown of San Antonio on Camden St. He is great and very informative he will answer all your questions up front and give your reasons for his answers.

I do not have his phone number at the time. Look him up at whitepages.com.
