Maybe a video gamer party, you can rent units to hook up in other rooms of the house for the sleep over gaming party, supply snacks and some great multi player games. My son loved it!! they stayed up all night playing the games and being boys!!!!

I am not sure where you are located, but what about an indoor Baseball Party? In Martin City (south KC) try Mac-n-Seitz, check out there website at www.mac-n-seitz.com

They offer batting cages and an indoor baseball game! They are pretty reasonably priced $50.00 deposit and the party costs about $150.00, but that includes tokens to the batting cages. They have party rooms for cake. They don't provide the cake but you are allowed to bring in your own. If you need a cool cake idea, what about a 3D Baseball? I make birthday cakes so if you are interested give me an e-mail and we can chat. You can also check out my listing on mamasource under local businesses - cakes & catering.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Ask him.

He's old enough to have an opinion about his own birthday. Then you don't have to worry about his being upset if you choose wrong.

Good luck!

S., I agree with one of the other mom's, let your son decide on the theme for his party. If he does like the baseball theme, maybe try having a party at Sluggers in Wichita. I believe they still have batting cages there. You could make a baseball cake, by using white frosting on a round cake & using red licrice for the laces. If they still make Big League Chew ( bubble Gum ) you could use that as a party favor. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I would suggest having a baseball themed party. Since it will be November, an outdoor game of baseball may be chilly so possibly you could use a local gym and the kids could play a game of wiffle ball. Make a baseball themed cake and serve baseball sized scoops of ice cream. Break the children into groups and have baseball themed games (one option could be a video game, a trivia crossword/search a word of baseball terms, musical caps (play like musical chairs, but each child must find a cap to hold at the end of the music), a relay (who can put the baseball uniform on the fastest), sing/play in the background "Take me out to the Ballgame," and any other baseball themed games and/or activities that you think of. Also, a sleepover party may be a fun idea. Just keep the number of boys to a small number so they do not fight over who is playing the video games, etc. I would suggest a total(including your son) of four or six. Hope this helps. K.

Hi S.,

My son turned 9 in April and he had a spy/detective party this year. I found a lot of my ideas for it on the internet, but it turned out great and the boys all had a blast. I wrapped his presents and then had several neighbors help me hid them at their house or in their yards, and then wrote out clues and attached them to the gifts. They also got hats and disguises and we fingerprinted all of them as they arrived at the house. We also drew around my son on the sidewalk to look like a crime scene. His party last year was magic themed and I was able to find a magician to come to the house at a resonable price, but you could also have the guests learn a magic trick and then present a show for each other. My other son is into sports and had a sport themed party this year. There are all sorts of sport party supplies and we just played different games, but made up funny rules. For example with baseball they threw the bat at the ball (SOFT bat and ball) and then they ran the bases backwards. I'm sure they will have fun with whatever you plan.

Dave and Busters, Family Arcades locations, skating rinks, bowling alleyes, or even Chuck E Cheeses are great for boys' parties.

If you are planning a home party, Mad Science, Sports ,auto, and pirate themes are great for this age.

Have fun!

Hi S.,
My son is 9 as well and will be 10 in April. He eats, breaths and sleeps baseball (and video games)! ;) If you decide to go with a baseball themed party, here is a link to a baseball cookie recipe that I plan on using for my son's birthday. http://www.chex.com/Recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=3376...
If he is anything like my son, he will get a kick out of these cute cookies. Hope this was of some help and I hope your son has a wonderful birthday!
