Hi Moms,
I am expecting our 2nd child in the spring and I am looking for a pediatrician in the area. We have moved to the area about a year and a half ago and need to find a new office. I am hoping to find a doctor who is open to finding alternative ways in treating common sicknesses. I do not want someone who prescribes anitbiotics non stop. I have learned this lesson from our first! Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Congrats on #2!

I live in Mansfield, Tx and use Dr. Joki w/ Cooks. He's absolutely wonderful. They have on call doctors on saturdays, and recently my daughter came down with a little bit of croup, i was nervous as she is only 4month old so i took her in on a Saturday. DR HARRIS w/ Cooks in Arlington, off of mitchell and like bowen rd, was the on call pediatrician that saturday. I loved her! She was very informative and just easy to talk to! She did prescribe my baby an antibiotic for an ear infection, but I believe she really needed it.

I'm very very happy with the cooks network in our area, my son's (age 3) pediatrician was good, but the cooks doctors have totally impressed me this past four months.

Good luck finding a doctor you click with, that's very important!

This doctor actually went to school longer than your common every day pedi docs. She went longer to learn about premies too. So she picked up many more years of extra schooling that other docs dont have. She does NOT give you meds everytime either. She always runs test and gets the facts.
She is located on Cooper Street. Very nice staff. Always on time appointment and when she is on call. She is on call. She returns them fast and always listens. She will even call and check on the baby during the weekend or drive in to see your sick child.

Dr. Sheng is a good doctor too! I'm not to fond of his assistant but he is very opened to alt. ways for treating common sickness. Thats the reason I switched cause my babys old doctor kept saying "oh just give her tylenol" everytime I went in and Dr. Sheng actually did bloodwork and it did end up being a serious virus and he perscribed two medicines and she was cured! He is with Cooks too off of Cooper and Park Row.

We have used Dr. Maria Fisher in Arlington, TX. She is located at 303 and Fielder, I believe. She does not take insurance so that might be a downer BUT she is awesome. She has been our kids pedi for 10 + years. Her office vistis run about 65 bucks cash and it is worth every penny. My only deal is that she likes to vaccinate and we are ANTI vaccine. But she has been really sweet about not badgering or demeaning me because of our choices.

Regards,

M.
