I know that Joel Hall on Clark offers kids dance class- pretty sure they offer JAZZ.

My daughter is interested in attending a dance class. She says she wants ballet, but I think she may prefer jazz or tap. My daughter is six and entering First Grade this fall. If anyone can recommend a good dance place on the North Side of Chicago, I would appreciate it.

I don't know where exactly you are located on the north side but my daughter took a dance class at Joel Hall in Andersonville. They seemed to offer different styles of dance for a variety of ages & abilities
I've heard good things about Rast Ballet. There is also a new dance studio about to open on the 4700 block of N. Damen Avenue, sorry I don't know the name.
Try the Old Town School of Folk Music: www.oldtownschool.org. Registration begins for non current students a week from Monday. My baby goes to Wiggleworms, but they have classes for older kids too. Lakeview YMCA also has classes I think.
Have fun!
My daughter has been at Le Ballet Petit on Francisco near Wilson Ave.(right near the brown line)for many years. It is a tiny non profit dance stuio. They have both weekend and weekday classes, and offer all types of classes for all age groups and all dance levels. There is a recital in June where the students/performers/teachers can showcase their talents! Check them out-and get more info directly from them at www.leballetpetit.com
Have you tried Joel Hall Dance? www.JoelHall.org
My girls have both taken classes at Joel Hall Dance on Clark Street in Andersonville and both had a good experience there. Neither are taking now as other things have caught their interest (soccer, theater, piano, drums . . .), but they offer ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop--you name it. They offer weekday classes as well as weekend, though Saturdays are a little hectic and less parking around the Clark Street/Andersonville area. Hope this helps! K.
