Is there a particular religion you are looking for? Would you rather it be casual or more ceremonial? I am Episcopalian and can give you feedback on the Episcopal churches in the area

I know it is not as close as Plano, but we just moved out here for a church plant in Frisco. Grace Church of Frisco is part of Sovereign Grace Ministries. I just started attending Richland bible fellowship church in Richardson. I love it there. Very low pressure and non denominational. The church has people from all kinds of backgrounds. They also have a great childrens ministry and three service on Sunday.

We go to Grace Community Church at Hedgecoxe and Preston Meadow, and we really love it. They are very accepting and amazing with kids - they just opened a huge new children's building and my kids can't wait to go every week. It is non-denominational, but not weird (if you know what I mean) - I would probably say it's close to Methodist beliefs, or somewhere around there. They have a lot of music and the messages are always very positive and practical. It's a great place to go if you haven't been in a while - very very nice people.

After shopping around for a church for quite a while we have finally joined Prestonwood Baptist Church. We really love it. The selling point for me was the children's area. There are so many activities and opportunities for everyone. THe next family event is the fall festival halloween night. It is on Halloween night. My family attends Fellowship Church (main campus in Grapevine). I have a 3 year old son and he loves it. We enjoy it so much that for the first time in my life I've gotten really involved and began volunteering teaching in the preschool several years ago and join the preschool staff this summer. The church has a satellite campus in Plano. I'm unsure of your background, but I was not raised in a church and had trouble finding a church that I felt comfortable in. I'm am positive that it is inviting and captivating and you daughter will LOVE it! It is very relaxed and casual (come as you are). You will find people in "church" clothes and people in t-shirts/jeans. They have live contemporary Christian music (praise&worship). They have FABULOUS age appropriate teaching for children of all ages. You can explore more about the church and it's philosophy at www.fellowshipchurch.com. J., I am not sure what demoniation you are, but I belong to Mt.Hebron Missionary Baptist Church-Garland Texas. Is a growing and family oriented church. Very kid friendly. Feel free to refer to our website: www.onthemount.org. Also, there is another church in Plano, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. I have a couple of friends that go to St.Mark on Alma.

We are in Richardson and love our church. It's small, which usually I would avoid because people can be really polarized in small groups, but everyone there is very grounded and authentic. It's First Bible Church of Arapaho located just west of Coit on Arapaho. Second Sunday service is 10:45-12:15.
If you were ever a methodist, I would also recommend visiting the Methodist Church in Richardson near Beltline and 75. They are moving into a new building and it looks to be thriving. Hope this helps!

We love Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano.

Prestonwood Baptist church is a great church. They have a great children's programs and AWANA for kids, and Sunday school classes to get plugged in, it's big doesn't feel that way.

Fellowship Bible Church North is wonderful - the people are really great and they are totally focused on kids too. They are on Lexington (behind the Target on Parker and 75) fbcn.org

We live in Plano, but I have been attending Unity Church in Dallas for about 15 years. It's on Forest Ln., not too far of a drive. The philosophy is a little different, very accepting of all denominations, very "spiritual", not guilt centered. It's a large congregation of about 1,000, lots of kids programs etc. Not for everyone, but I didn't want a traditional church so it works well for us. By the way it's not Unitarian, which is a completely different church that people often confuse with Unity. Hope this helps.

I like in Northeast Dallas and we go to a church called Watermark Community Church. There is a large portion of our membership that lives in the Plano/Richardson area. It is a non-denominational, VERY young church. So there are a lot of young parents with children and a lot of focus on programs for kids. Right now we meet at the auditorium of the Lake Highlands High School, however, we have purchased land and a building at the intersection of 75 and 635 and plan to build a facility there soon. I have been trying to come up with a good response for you and I'm not sure that there is one! I know I was in the NAvy when I felt that it was time for me to get back to church and God... what a journey~

Anyway- part of the church finding is God finding. Just start chatting with Him about where he wants you and your family. Do you want traditional? Contemporary? A non-denominational church? There are so many great churches to chose from. One that I hear over and over is Fellowship Bible North in PLano. Their web addy is: http://www.fbcnorth.org/content/24.htm

When I went to look up the addy I found out their serman series is "Aliens Strangers and Wanderers" :)

I live down south by White Rock Lake, so I'm not much help with more northern churches. If you want I can recommend a couple my friends attend. If you want to drve south on Nov 5th ( a Sat AM) our church is having Manna Mug and MUffin, which is a very casual time of coffee, muffins, a guest speaker and mug games. Lots of fun! Let me know.
