Looking for Cerified Nurse Midwife in Kansas City

What?!?! I am 31 weeks pregnant with my second and have seen Julie Gorenc throughout both of my pregnancies. She has not mentioned anything about leaving. I have not gotten a letter either. I have an appt at 4:45 today so I will check in to this for sure. That is NOT good news if it is accurate. Julie has been awesome.

Ok, it won't let me post another comment, only "edit" my original one. I had my appt today and it is true! Kathy Melton is leaving at the end of November, but Julie, Patti, and Kara are all leaving effective 8/21. They are all going to Contemporary Women's Care at St. Joe and will be working with Dr. Sneed. Julie didn't tell me why they are all leaving, but it was clear they are unhappy at WHCG. I have seen Julie for about 10 years now, so I am pretty upset by this, and especially since I am in the last weeks of my pregnancy. I don't know if I should go with her to the new practice or just stick it out and then go back to her for my yearly visits later. She delivered my daughter and was awesome and I hate changing practitioners this late in the game. Ah! Totally bummed!

???? Patti has delivered all 3 of my children, but it's been about a year since I've been in. I've been meaning to call and make an appointment, so I'm glad you gave me the heads up. I'll be upset if I can't see her any more. If I find anything out, I'll let you know.

I saw a couple doctors in that practice with my last pregnancy, and was very happy with them. For anyone interested in staying with the practice, but with a doctor, Tony Moulton and Courtney Younglove were great!!

Does anyone know WHY they are leaving?

ALL of them are leaving Women's Healthcare Group??? I got a letter from Kathy Melton saying she was leaving a few weeks ago, but she said she was staying home. What DR do you see in that practice? I saw Dr. Estrin when I was pregnant with my son, but wanted a different DR for my next pregnancy. I had been seeing Kathy in the meantime, but now she's gone :( I realize this isn't so much an answer to your question! :) I'll keep checking back to see other's responses

Mine, Jeanie Ward was there and left as well. Have not a clue what happened but happy for her move! Now not only is she my OGBYN but my Primary too! She is the best if anyone is looking for a new doctor/OGBYN! She is a Midwife and able to deliver also. She is the kindest, warmest and most knowlegable doctor I have ever known! And she listens to you which seems hard to find now days!

Does anyone know where Kathy Melton ended up going? She told me she would take some time off but would return to work after few months, but at a different place than Women's Health Care Group. I heard the midwifes couldn't come to an agreement with the doctors on the hours each of them would be on call. PLEASE post it if you know where Kathy went! :) Thanks!

I have been going to Patti since I was 16, which is over 16 years now and followed her to Women's Healthcare Group when she left her practice before that-she delivered both of my children so I too was so upset when I found out she was leaving, but quickly found out where she went which is Contemporary Women's Care-I was due for my yearly so I scheduled an appointment with her right away. I have heard that WHCG was not very nice when the midwives decided to leave and are supposedly charging patients 80.00 for their medical records. I understand that they are running a business-however, they work in healthcare and isn't the patients well being supposed to be their main goal-"do no harm"?? I think it's an outrage that they are hurting patients because they are upset that the midwives decided to leave-I work in the healthcare field and I consider it part of our job to send patients medical records on to other providers if they so wish. The way the WHCG have treated the midwives upon leaving and the way they are treating patients who decide to leave validates my decision to leave WHCG after 10+ years and follow Patti to Contemporary Women's care-after all, she is the one who led me to WHCG!
