Looking for Birthday Party Ideas

Hello ladies,
My son will be turning two in August and I am looking for some creative ideas for his birthday party. I am thinking of going with a monster theme, or maybe bugs. We all know it is too HOT in phoenix to do anything outdoors in August, but I cannot think of anything fun and creative to do indoors. I am going to try to keep the crowd to 30 people max (we have a huge family), but am really concerned about entertaining the few kids that will be here. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

Check out www.imaginationavenue.us for our party details. :) Imagination Avenue is perfect for 2 year olds and is the most reasonable indoor party place in the valley (and air conditioned, a bonus in August!). You can actually enjoy your guests since the kiddos are entertained and you'll have 2 party specialists doing all the serving, cleaning, etc. The party packages include food for the kiddos, all paper goods for both kids and adults, each kiddo leaves with a balloon, the guest of honor gets a return pass to go back and play at Imagination Avenue. You can have as many adults as you like to come to the party too (no extra charge). Call ###-###-#### if you have any questions, the website does have details and pictures but we are happy to answer any additional questions. If you are interested and call, be sure to mention mamasource and you get $10.00 off party package A or $20.00 off party package B.

Have a great weekend!

Hi,
I have been entertaining kids with Shinky Dinks for the last couple of years and it's fascinating. They shrink and curl and twist and the kids love it and they have something to bring home. I do this professionally you can see more at my web site here: www.debraleemurrow.com or go to shrinkydink.com... Good luck. dlm

Hi - you can check out my website - I have a pirate theme and circus theme birthday ideas - http://www.chitchatformommies.com/parties.html. I hope it helps!!

The beautiful thing about a 2 year old (I have a daughter turning 6) is that they are really happy doing anything - remember at that age its about them! What about going to an Imagination Avenue or Fun Time 4 Kids - that might be a thought!!

Kids of all ages love making food. Let them decorate their own cupcakes instead of having a cake. Let them make soft pretzels. It is fun to show them how to make ropes and then shape then in fun shapes. Margarita salt works well if they want to salt them. You could let them make some that have cinnamon and sugar or have some nacho cheese to dip. They could take orders from the adults and make the shapes that the adults want or make their initial. Kids love taking orders as if they are a waiter or waitress. Give them pads of paper and they can take orders from their parents and whoever else is there. They can also make their own pizzas if you want to have an easy kid food. Cut up refrigerated pizza crust or use those big canned biscuits and flatten them out for the kids. Have the kids serve the adults their food. You can give them trays and put one person's food on a tray at a time. Just some thoughts...

Go to the Oriental Trading website for all sorts of party themes and all the stuff you'll need to pull it off. So far, some party themes I've done are: luau (very fun and lots of great ideas out there for this popular theme--i.e. lei given to all guests who are invited to attend in their Hawaiian shirts, flip-flop cake) road construction (caution tape and safety cones as decor, bulldozer pinata, paper lunch bag filled with goodies for guests, and I made a chocolate cake and scooped it into the back of a large toy Tonka dump truck to make it seem like the cake was dirt/rocks that the truck was dumping out onto a platter, plus safety cone candles), home cookin' (everything was very "kitchy"--think red and turquoise check pattern, strawberries, kitchen utensils--we served homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veggies, and I made an "old-fashioned" round, double layer cake). Next, I'm planning a Disney Princess party for my daughters in August. One of the games we will play is called "Guess the Dinglehopper" (just like Ariel called human objects) where I'll have an array of items in a decorated box for them to feel an object and try to guess what it is. The guests will take home purses filled with goodies like crown suckers, princess bubbles, princess fruit snacks, princess tattoos, princess stickers, and princess crayons that I found in the Target $1 bin. ALL other stuff (including before-mentioned parties) was purchased through Oriental Trading. Now I'm planning a casino night party for my hubby's new promotion, and Oriental Trading has a ton of cute stuff for this too! Just google "party theme ideas" or something similar, and a ton of things will come up! Then go to Oriental Trading to order everything you'll need!

If doing your own party at home is too daunting a task, then you can always go someplace and let someone else do the work for you. Pump It Up! is a great place to have a party--the kids (and parents!) love to jump and play in the huge inflatable bouncers, slide, and obstacle course. I know there are a few Valley locations.

Have fun, and good luck!

MY son also turns 2 in August. What I think we are going to do since it is so HOT is have a party in our home and hire Jungle Jill. She comes to your home and brings 8-10 animals with her and does a presentation and then photos (not sure if the photos are with the animals) She brings her own carpet so you dont have a mess to clean up. I found her in the kids directory. With the kids directory (you can find at babies r us) you get $25 off so I think her fee is $175 for two hours. ###-###-#### or junglejill.com
