I am looking for activity groups for my one year old daughter in the Barrington area (I would travel to Arlington Heights and surrounding areas). I would love her to play with other children and I would like the opportunity to meet other mothers as well.

My son and I have attended the Village of Lake in the Hills Park District's Toddler Tunes program since he was about 1 year old. Miss Deena is the teacher and she's really nice. There are 15 minutes of free play for the children (from 1 to 5 years old) so the parents can talk, then there are structured actities for the parent and child to do together, like sing-a-longs.
There's a Kindermusik class in the hoffman estates park district -- on Algonquin and Lexington. It's fun. My one-year old has been in it for a year!

I have a 20 month old son. He shares well...biggest fault is that he tries to tickle other children and most children his age want to be left a lone! We live in Palatine. We have an au pair during the week. I would be happy to schedule play dates at my house for the weekend when I am around or when she is. Let me know what you think... also...I'll be on maternity leave in October -> December so our schedules clear up more then. ____@____.com

You should check out the website parentsasteachers.org and see if they have a chapter in your area. They provide playgroups for local moms with kids from birth to age 3. I attended playgroups with my 2 youngest girls here in Elgin. They might have a group near you.
