Hello,
I am pregnant and due on Feb. 20th. I am not working and plan on being a stay at home mom. I know when we first bring my son home there will be a lot of adjusting and trying to get on a schedule. What I am looking for is some sort of book that has recommended activities for each stage of babies development. I have had very little experience with children and babies, I'm afraid I won't know how to keep my son stimulated and learning. This may be just new mom jitters, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank-you for all of the great advice! I ended up buying a few books from Amazon, several of the ones that were suggested. I am reading through them now and I am scheduled for a c section on Feb. 20th, so I haven't had a chance to put my new knowledge to use yet. I will report back once I actually use the books with my new baby. Thanks again! :)

I have a book that is called
Quick and Fun Learning Activities for Babies
It is by Teacher Created Materials, Inc.

It has lots of great things in it.

Also, Discovery Toys makes/made a set of cards called Handy Helpers The Early Years. I am not sure if they still make them or not. The cards list fun and easy activities to do with your child from birth to age 2.

If you are delivering at Beaumont, they have a really great program - The Parenting Program - with tons of resources and moms that can call and talk about whatever you are concerned about. The program was wondering and very helpful when I had my fist son, 8 years ago. Since then I have volunteered in many aspects of the program and I cannot say enough great things about it.
A good book I received when I had my son was 'What to Expect During the First Year'.
Enjoy everything - as I am sure you have been told, they grow up too fast.

Hi, H.! My sister just gave me a book called "Baby Minds: Brain Building Games Your Baby Will Love." It's by Linda Acredolo. I just started looking through it, but so far I really like it. She used it with her kids, too. Good luck!

I feel like that some times, but I think the important thing to remember, is that they are always taking in so much. When they sleep, they are catching up. Every little thing is brand new. So if you or I were to lay in one spot for an hour, we would be bored to death, but for our babies it is a time to explore. I dont know of any book, but the parenting magazines are great for inspiration. My daughter loves it when I sing to her. We have dance parties and I read to her and talk to everything out loud all day! Just do the things you like to do in a way that involves your new baby. It is truely a blast!
