My husband and I have a terrible PCP. She doesn't return our calls or call in routine prescriptions (like birth control and blood pressure meds!!!) even when our pharmacy calls her. We both go regularly for yearly physicals so that can't be her excuse. My husband has chronic back pain and when he tries to get an appointment because he is in agony, she blows him off for a few days. The last time he couldn't walk 10 feet across the room and the doc wouldn't give an appointment for two days! We went to Med Express and they got a wheel chair for him! Our doc is just terrible. We are looking for a new primary care doctor (male or female) who can be available for us, or who has a good group of physicians who are available when necessary. We are in Mount Lebanon so anything close to this area would be great. If you LOVE your doctor, please let me know! Thanks!!!!
We live in Carnegie and have Dr. Civitarese as our PCP. There are two brothers and another doctor, Dr. Garretson. They are great. My cousin also uses them but when she had her baby, she wanted a pediatrician. She was embarrassed to tell them, but they just laughed and said, "Don't worry-- we cover for him some weekends." I LOVE LOVE LOVE my PCP. He is awesome. Has absolutely no ego about referring you to a specialist if needed and will run all necessary tests, even if "rules" (Insurance, etc.) dictate against it. He found a congential heart defect in me that way. But while he will err on the side of caution, he isn't frivolous in testing.
He is in Jefferson Hospital's medical building and his name is David Lilienthal. His number is ###-###-####. My mom also sees him and has seen his nurse practitioner, who she says is also wonderful.

Mt. Lebanon Internal Medicine on the corner of Cochran and Cedar is ours and they are wonderful. I mostly see Dr. Schneider - she is a true gem! We have seen some of the others when she was not available and I don't have any real gripes with any of them, she's just my favorite. I think Dr. Marmol would be my second choice (also a woman), though I have not seen her a lot. I don't know who among them is taking new patients, though. Good luck! I know how awful it is to have a terrible doc - we did, too, before we switched here...
Even though I am in the SouthHills too, I trek into town to go to Smithfield Medical. I know a bunch of people who see Dr. Fackovec! He uses common sense & is very nice! Dr Essig also works with him & is also great! His office staff Karen & Mary are awesome!
We like Dr Bonacorsi he is on Banksville road across from hotel. There is a parking lot behind the building. My husband and I have been seeing him for years. Never a problem, even this past summer I had a bad reaction to something. I take my kids to Children Community Care in Mount Lebanon.
I love them there. My son is 10 and daughter is 5 an we have been going there since my son was 2. We also switched PCP's because I didn't like the previous one.
I never have a problem getting an appointment. And for a sick visit, I can always get in the same day, without a problem also.
