Some friends of mine are looking for a good, honest, not too expensive lawyer experienced in family law, detention hearings and restraining orders. Their current lawyer seems to be not so honest and fairly useless in fighting for their interests in court. I have two recommendations. One is from my church. His name is Hector Moreno. You can look up Moreno family law firm in San Jose. He is very honest and a godly man. He gives free legal advice on the first Saturday of every month at my church, Home Church in Campbell. To get more info, call the church office at ###-###-####. He really wants to help people and helped me tremendously with my divorce. Being a personal friend, he didn't charge me for advice, so I don't know what his fees are, but he was a Deputy DA and very well known and respected in the community.
The second is someone he recommended to me while going through my divorce. Her name is Julie Saffren and works on N 1st Street in San Jose. Sorry, I don't have her number, but someone else I referred to her found her in the phone book. She was wonderful and only charged me $100.00 per hour. She may be more expensive as that was 5 years ago, but she helped me win my custody case.

Let me start by saying there is no such thing as an inexpensive lawyer. Having said that, I highly recommend Kathy Schlepphorst or Julie Emede. They practice family law together. Kathy handles matters involving children. Julie handles matters not involving children. Kathy handled my son's custody battle (his ex is a dead beat who was neglecting the children) after I fired our first attorney who had a melt down in the courtroom. That one blew through $15000 in a couple of months and accomplished nothing. Kathy is a bull dog in court. Either Kathy or Julie would do a great job for your friends.
