Hi moms! I'm looking for an affordable, healthy sunscreen for my 22mth. old. I was using one I liked from Aveda which was natural, but a little more than I want to spend. Any suggestions would be appreciated-AND moms don't forget to protect your children's skin.

Hi O.,
What a great reminder now that the sun is out again!
My kids have very sensitive skin. I used California Baby Fragrance Free ($15 for less than 3 oz) for the first year. Last summer I switched to Aveeno Baby ($10-$12 for 5 oz) for the face and Aveeno Continuous Spray ($8-$10) for the body with good results.

I love DDF photo age matte finish sunscreen (SPF 30) - I buy it at Sephora. It's not greasy at all, and doesn't seem to clog their pores (or mine =). It's a bit pricey but good for faces on an everyday basis, and for moms, works great under makeup.
If we're going to be out in the water, I put Bullfrog spf 30 or 45 on them. I have never found anything better for water sports, personally. The stuff stays on, period.
If we're outdoors but not in the water, I use No-Ad, which I've bought at Target. It comes in huge bottles and in various SPFs. It is inexpensive and in my experience works great. I've heard that you should use about a shot glass full of sunscreen on your body in order to properly cover the whole area - at the prices of some sunscreens, you'd go broke in a hurry! But I like No-Ad because it comes in a huge container for not a lot of money, so you don't feel like you have to ration it out.
Good for you that you are working to protect your little one's skin from the sun! I have very fair Irish skin and not long ago had to have some skin cancer cut out. Not pleasant! As a result I have sunscreen like some people have shoes - a different type for every occasion!
Arbonne is an awesome product. It's botanically based; many moms I have talked to say that it doesn't seem to run into their children's eyes and cause the sting. Here is the link to read more about it. https://www.arbonne.com/products/baby/sunscreen.asp
I can teach you how to get it at a 35% discount if that interests you.
Good luck

Have you heard of products from Melaleuca.com? I find that they are healthy and affordable as well as quality products for me and my family. All the products are safe and nontoxic which is important when there are children around. Check it out and let me know what you think.
we like California Baby. It is spendy, but is VERY concentrated.
I have used Tender Moments Baby Block SPF45 by JAFRA Skin Care & Cosmetics on my grand-daughter going on four years now (she will be four in July)
I swear by it, and all the other mothers/gramas I know choose it as their sunscreen of choice. It provides full UVA/UVB protection to guard your little one from the sun's harmful rays. Gentle formula combines moisturizing and anti-irritant properties. Water-resistant and sweat proof, too. 1.7oz $10.00. A great product at an excellent price! www.myjafra.com/lschmidt
