Are you looking for FUN things like caterpillars out of Oreos and Santa strawberries and spiders out of Oreos, fun cakes for parties, etc. or are you looking for main dish items, etc. too??
Can anyone recommend a great kid's cookbook that would engage me and my 4-yr-old dd? I prefer cookbooks with photos of the real food, rather than cartoony pictures. Healthy would be good too, but I'll start with anything that makes food, cooking, & eating fun! (She's kind of picky and I don't like to cook, so I thought this might be a good idea for both of us.)

I like the Pampered Chef cook books. Let's Eat is great for kids. You might also try their 29 Minutes to Dinner. There are always steps that she can help you with and it only takes 29 minutes from start to finish. Let me know if you are interested. (They also have their kid's apron and chef hat in their outlet. Just something fun for when she cooks.)
I also like the 4 ingrediant cook books. You should be able to get those at any bookstore.
Discovery Toys has a good kids cookbook. I think it is titled ???KinderKrunches???
Check out spatullata.com ! Cooking 4 kids website - they are awesome. Actually they are my next feature site in a website I run called MomViews.net
hi,
my son loves the book Pretend Soup by Mollie Katzen and Ann Henderson. My son's almost 3. He likes that the recipies have pictures of what to measure and he can follow a recipie without knowing how to read. It's made cooking more fun to have him interested and wanting to help.
My co-worker is reading the cook book Jerry Seinfelds wife wrote Deceptively Delicious. Her name is Jessica Seinfeld and it's for picky eaters! It might be fun!
The four ingredient cookbook is a wonderful easy cookbook. From one mom to another who doesn't like to cook this one can be a real lifesaver!! Also, at the bargain bookstore I have found a cookbook called the Kids Cookbook. It ranges from appetizers to desserts and is a lot of fun to make some of the recipes! Good Luck!
I would have to say that my favorite kid's cookbook is currently "Cooking for Kids" published by Publications International, Ltd. It has lots of color photos (not of all recipes, but for a good number of them) and uses "normal" ingredients (I am not a gourmet chef, nor do I like to eat that way). You will probably already have most of the ingredients needed for the recipes already in your kitchen!
Right now I am cooking out of Deceptively Delicious. It was written by Jessica Seinfeld. My kids have no idea that veggies are hidden inside. I usually don't have trouble getting them to eat some veggies, but now they are getting all they need. Some of the recipes are good, but have a different texture. For example...the brownies have spinach and carrot puree in them so they are less cake like than regular brownies. There are pics of the foods and my daughter likes to help me make the recipes. It really is a great book. Good Luck!
I also like the Jessica Seinfeld cookbook.
It's basically recipes for getting kids (and adults) to eat healthier (more fruits and veggies)
I love it, but I do like to cook.
It is a little extra work,(most of the recipes call for purees) but it's fun.
Pampered Chef has a good Let's Eat cookbook. Also I have a Disney cook book, it is cartoony but its cute and the kids really liked it. We don't really use it much anymore if you are interested PM me and I can probably pass it on to you. (As long as my kids don't see!!) -
Family Fun also has a few good cookbooks.
My sister-in-law bought us this one for my daughter's birthday this year:
Pretend Soup by Katzen and Henderson

Looks like Katzen also wrote another one called Salad People, but I haven't checked it out.
Rachel Ray has a great kid's cookbook. It is for young children all the way to their teenage years. It is even written for them to follow easily.
I suggest the one that Pampered Chef has. All of their cookbooks are great and they have one thats for Kids. It has great recipes and beautiful pictures.
Good Luck and Happy Cooking!!

We have "C is for Cooking". It's all recipes from the "Street", Sesame Street, that is! The photos are of the food - fantastic!! My kids are a bit young to be that hands on in the kitchen but we break out the book and I prepare some of the recipes. It's fun and they eat it because it's from Sesame Street!! The author is Susan McQuillan. I'm sure that you can find this at any Borders or Barnes and Noble.
Good luck.
