Hi I been in Georgia for 3 months and looking for a great church home with great programs for me and 2 kids. I love Georgia thus far but it gets lonesome not knowing anyone.

What can I do next?

The only way to find one is to try going. I have been to numerous churches with friends, etc and I could tell by one service that I wouldn't want to go there every week.
The south has some pretty great churches. I'm sure you can find one.
It just depends on your beliefs, etc.

Best wishes.

If you go online and google the name of the denomination you belong to (Southern Baptist, PCA, etc.) - or the name of the part of the city where you live - you should be able to get some information. Another idea is to notice what people in your neighborhood leave their homes early on Sunday mornings; ask them later in the day if they go to church and where they go.

It can sure be hard to make a start when you're new and don't know anyone well, but once you've done that, you'll keep going on until you find where you should be. Praying that you'll find your place soon!

I guess it depends on where you live. We live in East Cobb (Marietta) and recently joined Mt. Bethel UMC. It's a large church with lots of people and lots of ways to get involved. It's located on Lower Roswell Rd. We really like it. Good luck, I hope you find one you love.

My brother-in-law and his wife pastor Dahlonega Assembly of God. I don't know where you are in Atlanta, but if it's close enough you could check it out. Very family oriented church and friendly people.

Hi there. Really depends on which side of town you live on. Over on the westside, I attend Church at Chapel Hill in Douglasville. AWESOME, AWESOME youth ministry - from preschoolers on up, the children are learning about God's Word at their level through dynamic praise & worship and anointed teaching. It's an Assemblies of God church.

Up on the north end of town, Andy Stanley's church is awesome. Visited there once before and if I lived anywhere close, that's probably where we would be. Children have a whole wing off to themselves. Fantastic for youth.

I attend Buckhead Church, which is a part of the Northpointe Church community. Our family LOVES it! The music is contemporary (kind of like going to a concert on a Sunday morning), the children's programs are phenomenal and the messages are always on point with what we have going on in our lives. There are multiple campuses, so there is a decent chance that you might live near one. Here is the website if you would like more information: www.northpointe.org You can even catch the messages via podcast if you want to check them out before you actually visit to see if you think they are in line with your beliefs. I have met some wonderful people through activities, and now I am in a community group with some ladies who have quickly become trusted friends. Hope this helps, and welcome to GA!

Depends on where you are in Atlanta and your denomination. If you are near the northern suburbs, give Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (in Marietta) a try. My children are very happy there as am I. If not your denomination or location, try typing your denomination and searching for churches nearby...and then try them out. You will find the perfect fit. Good luck!

I attend Riverstone Church in Marietta. We've been there a little more than 3 years and love the warmth. You can check out the web site http://www.riverstoneonline.org/ to see what you think of it. If you decide to visit, let me know and I'll be happy to meet you there. Glad you love GA--I'm a native and think it's one of the most wonder places in the world.
