Kris, the Slimquick is working very well for me. I've lost about 50 pounds using Slimquick and smart diet/exercise. Another plus is that it seems to have regulated my cycle when nothing else has. Good luck!
I have done some research on the internet for a good diet pill. I currently workout on a daily basis, mixing cardio and weights. I am eating right and gearing towards low carbing. I have a fairly good knowledge of proper eating and excercise. I have never tried a diet pill before, and have been able to lose weight. But I am a little over 40 and it makes it tougher than before to lose fat. So I thought I would try a pill. I will continue my daily eating and excercise but need a boost. I would like to lose 30 - 35 lbs. I am currently looking at the "SLIMQUICK" caplets. Has anyone had success with that? I don't want to spend a fortune on something that doesn't work so I thought I would start with this. I also like the "XYLESTRIL". It is a little more expensive but I read some good reviews about it on a comparison website. I looked to see if this topic has been covered recently in Mamasource but didn't find it. So if anyone has any personal experience with these, or another brand that is close to it and safe, I would appreciate it.

Hello! I just wanted to let you know about a diet system called Visalus. My dad has been on it and he has lost over fifty pounds in a little over 2 months. My aunt who has never been able to loose weight started on this program and lost 10 pounds in a week and a half. I am not exaggerating. Everyone that has tried this system is losing weight and loving the results. If you want more info, my dad is a distributor and can answer any questions you may have. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com. I can give you some contact info for my dad. And don't worry, my dad is not one of those pushy sales people. He's great! Anyway, let me know if I can set you up with some info. Good luck!
Hi Kris,
Don't diet. It will just create a nasty cycle for you. You have to be careful with the pills too as you need to understand what they are doing to your metabolism. You don't want to fool with mother nature too much.
1. Read "Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell" and "Outsmarting the Midlife Fat Cell" by Debra Waterhouse. You will understand so much more about your body and the intelligence of your fat cells, plus why dieting does not work long term.
2. Drink lots of great quality water. Not all is created equally, but you need to be well hydrated to metabolize your fat. Most of us are chronically dehydrated.
3. I like the Nikken Body Balance program. It has many components including a cleanse, nutritious shakes, Rev - to boost metabolism, and an energy component. I used to eat 3 bowls of cereal for breakfast, now all I want is a nutritious shake. I've been successfully maintaining my weight with it. Know lots of people who have lost lots of weight too. Nutrition is key to having your body function well. Detoxing is also important. www.nikken.com/bodybalance
4. I also wear CardioStrides which are weighted fitness shoes. A 30 minute walk is worth 300 calories, so I wear them as I go about my day to tone muscles and burn more calories.
5. Make sure you are getting 7-8 hours of good quality sleep. It is important that your body does it repair work and can help keep the pounds off.
I'm in the process of putting together a website www.livinghealthiernow.com and I'm a healthier living expert on www.chatchewandchocolate.com. That website has many other experts who post articles and tips. You will really enjoy it. Email me if you need more info.
Take care,

Be careful of synthetic diet pills. Try seeking out natural sources such as decaf green tea.
You are on the right track to raise your metabolism. To loose weight effectively its going to take some time....so be patient. The more muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism will be.
I wouuld suggest drinking a protein shake right before and/or immediately after your work outs. I love muscle milk light. I buy it at Costco premade. I can grab and go as I need on my way to the gym or whenever. Your diet should consist of lean protein : chicken breast, fish, shrimp and good carbs : whole grains, lots of raw fruits and veggies, beans, nuts. Good essential oils are olive oil, omega 3-6-9.
Check out www.goodcarbs.org and some good cookbooks I'd recommend to go along with the diet are:
Living (Raw) Foods Diet
Vegetarian Diet
The Zone Diet
South Beach Diet
Okinawa Diet
Glycemic Index Diet
Also make sure you are letting your muscles rest and recover between work outs.... THIS IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT! If you want to do cardio and weights every day alternate upper body and lower body.
I am just like you with exercise and eating and well over 40. I have recently been seeing a Nurse Practitioner that gives me a weekly vitamin B shot and monitors my vitals and have had GREAT success with losing on this plan! It's great 'cause I'm not in it by myself yet don't need meetings. Also it's about $50/month but worth every cent!
My husband is doing the weight loss program with Visalus. He just started and is already losing inches. The program consists of meal replacement shakes, however if you do not want to do that they do have metabolism booster which will help you by themselves and they also have appetite suppresents as part of the program. Check out the website and let me know what you think.

Green tea didn't work for me, nor my friend. I do everything listed already, and I stop at 35 lbs of my heathly/goal weight. I also stay away from processed foods completely. None of it seems to help, but I continue because I get gestational diabetes (low carb, no processed) and hate having to change everything every time. Let us know if you find something that works! I'm certainly interested if there's something that will help with the rest, besides surgery. :)
Alle is the only one that clinically they have found to truly work without all these drugs that can have bad side effects.
There is no magic pill at all. The safest thing you can do is naturally increase your metobolism, like drinking green tea three times a day. I brew it and let it cool and make iced tea out of it! It is full of anti oxidants too.
Alle helps and is great however you have to be very careful what you eat or it can give you tummy issues. Like minimal fat food intake. You have to follow the instructions on the diet plan they offer. You can get this program at stores, Sams Club even Target I believe.
Consult your Dr. too and let them know what is going on. FDA doesn't regulate a lot of this junk out there and it is at your own risk. Do you want to find out after the fact it was unsafe? There is no pill out there to help, if there was, we all would be skinny! :)
It would be better for your health to research foods that help with metobolism and ways to boost your own the natural way, water intake, green tea and so on. Green tea has been proven to help increase calorie burning.
Low carb diets don't work unless you plan to live the rest of your life like that either.
Studies have proven Atkins diet fails once you stop doing it.
You need carbs, it is about the right amount and right kind.
A balance of foods is more important.
Save your money on fake promises from diet pills, go talk to a Nutritionalist and change a way of life and still be able to eat some of your favorites!
My mother and I both did Fentermene (sp?) and it worked. We were both very concerned about starting it because some people have a hard time with it, but we both did fine. I lost 46 lbs and my mother over 20 and we both hit our target weights within a year. I had no problems stopping the pill when it was time, and if it were not for the pregnancy I am sure I would still be that weight today. I am going back to the doc next week to get back on them to help with the baby weight. Before taking the pills my blood pressure was high, cholesterol was high and I was sluggish and tired all the time. While they do have side effects (dry mouth, jitters), I did not find them unbearable. I drank lots of water and also started my diet and exercise regimen the same week. My results were not typical but I think that was because of the total life change that I did. My mother also did fine, she has been off the pills for a year now and she is still at her target weight. My husband tried them and did not have the same success, however they diagnosed him with a thyroid issue so he switched to treating that and has done much better. I do not recommend that you take prescription diet pills if there is no need. Unless you are 30+ lbs over weight there is no medical reason to and some people do develop dependency issues with them. I did want to throw my experience with it in the ring here because i feel that prescription diet pills get a bad rap sometimes, when they can really help people. Hope this helps!
I personally experienced great results with Figure 8 weight management plan from Arbonne. I use the protein shakes and make them into Protein bars and use them as a meal supplement. I make them every other week and everyone in the family enjoys them. The weight loss chews are super yummy. The supplement is easy to swallow. There is a whole website for support and recipes. www.gofigure8.com
I stay evenly balanced sugar wise and have energy.
Let me know if you want some free samples.
I have just started taking the slimquick and i like it. It doesnt make me feel "wired" like hydoxycut did....
Check-out www.slimbodycoach.com. Their GNS products are wonderful without the high-fructose corn syrup and bad products, and the protein shakes are thick and creamy. I highly recommend taking Slim Seduction with Carb Matrix. It's also a great place for free support from others trying to lose weight. I was Round 1 winner in 2007. Their plan and products really work! Best wishes!
I just started the slimquick cleanse and have noticed a big difference in 2 days. You go to the bathroom a lot with it, but then you are also cleaning all the yuckies out of your body. I will be starting the regular part next week, but I will be doing the drink instead of taking the pills.
This is what I'm looking at right now.
I know you asked advice on a diet pill but I am asking you to NOT do this! These pills are so bad for your body and will mess up your metabolism and who knows what else. Weight Watchers works, it is safe and may take a while but in the grand scheme it will work for life and be good for your health. Unless you are in menopause age is irrelevant. Good luck!
The only recommendation I can give is from my own experience. I have tried so many out there and I am getting closer to 40 and my metabolism isn't what it was back in my 20's. I love Arbonne figure 8 weightloss system, the shakes and chews. They also have a supplement that boosts your metabolism naturally. They also have a "Fizzy Tab" that you just put into your water bottle and it also gives you lots of energy and boosts your metabolism, again Naturally. A testimony from a woman in Denver just added 2 bottles of water with the fizzy tabs to her daily routine and lost 9lbs in one month and she changed nothing with her diet or exercise. Let me know if you would like more info. I am also in Colorado.
