Hi A.,
Not sure what faith you follow but my family & I attend St. Gregory the Great on Dewhurst (Catholic). In the Crossroads Mall area (410 & I10)
Our children's mass is at 10am on Sunday mornings. Everyoen brings their kids of all ages.
-For the older kids right after the mass begins the children leave for children's church in the hall with our group of volunteers.
-The volunteers are adults & teens from our church youth group.
-For those not old enough to go to children's church (4+) those kiddos stay with their parents.
-I've seen parents bring coloring books, cereal, knick knacks, etc. to keep the kids occupied during the mass.
If your child is really crying a lot or just can;t sit still for that long...you can sit in the bride/cry room.
-It has a huge window where you can see & hear the entire mass.
-This room is also good because all the little ones really just wonder around in there while the parents participate (in the same room)in the mass.
-When my youngest was smaller we used the cry room several times.
-She loved the company of the other little ones.
-I was able to keep track of her & participate in the mass at the same time without dieing of embarassment.
We would love for you to visit our church. If you like we can meet & go together (____@____.com). My girls & I came to St. Gregory about 8 years ago & absolutely love it! I'm a CCD teacher & Lector. My oldest daughter is in the youth group & assists with Vacation Bible school. All three of my girls have been or are currently altar servers.
We're all involved also in our CYO program (all sports) and have developed a great community there as well.
All that said...they say you need to shop for a church like you shop for everything else. Churches are not one size fits all. Visit a few for more than just one Sunday service & make an educated decision.
God Bless,
R.
