I am looking for a good dance class for my daughter! She loves dance and if I am going to spend the money I want it to be a good program so I am looking for feedback from other moms. She is 4 and already has taken the park classes and we need to move on to a good program. We live in South Minneapolis but will drive with in reason.

What can I do next?

There is a small school on Minnehaha Avenue at 43rd Street called Ballareteatro. I've taken my kids there - they have both performance classes and recreational, so you can choose. It's affordable too!

Although I my children are too little to take dance class at this point, I have taken dance classes in the Twin Cities myself. Dance Institute (formerly Ballet Arts Minnesota) in downtown Mpls. offers ballet for young children. www.mndance.org Also Ballare Teatro www.ballareteatro.comin South Mpls, around 42nd St. offers classes. I've enjoyed adult classes at both of these studios and have heard good things about their kids classes.

I love Dance Endeavors and highly recommend them! http://www.danceendeavors.com/ My daughters have been taking there since they were 3, they are now 10 and 11. I love several things about this studio. First, the teachers are great and very good with the little ones. But I really love their non-competitive philosophy. Many studios are into competition, and if you start out at one of those studios, often your dancers get sucked into it. Dance Endeavors believes everybody can dance. No tryouts, no crazy make-up wearing, no competitions every weekend (which get very expensive). They have 2 optional performances each year and they are really fun. They are in Bloomington, it would be worth the drive!!

Not sure if this is too far away for you but we really like Studio 4 - www.studio4dancers.com. It is in Burnsville - but it'd be close to 35W and Hway 13 for you. My daughter LOVED the pre-K class. They learn more than just dance and the teacher has an elementary ed background. She just knows how to keep the girls interested - using lots of props, shapes, colors, etc. The dance studio is owned by 4 sisters - who are all very talented and have an extensive dance background. When I was looking around - I realized they were actually one of the most reasonable dance studios around or else comparable to others. They haven't been around too long - maybe 3 years. But, with my experience (with my daughter and the 20+ years that I danced), I have been extremely satisfied with Studio 4.

S.,

Have you checked out the Children's Theater Company? They have a movement class for children starting Saturday Sept. 13th. I'm bringing my 4 year old granddaughter and we can't wait!

We are really happy with Ballareteatro. It is on 43rd and Minnehaha. My daughter is 4 and will be starting her 2nd year there. They put on a recital at the end of the school year.
